It's this kind of thing that makes me want a proper interview Craig. Not a drama or beef vibe but a kind of media history from those that were there. KZitem is of an age where many of its biggest OG 'stars' have moved on and a new viewership has no context for what came before. The first hand knowledge of these platforms, the industry connections and insight on content business models all make for some much needed balance for those wanting to make digital creation their career.

Craig, I have seen this story a handful of times working for various companies as a recruiter/director. It is strange to me how people can have “all this money” and not realize how important their staff is. People tend to forget people and it’s really ironic. I had been years turning teams around, advising leadership to invest in their staff/training/retention and had to fight through so much pushback. But the truth is, their people are the best thing going for their various endeavors. Great story! Thank you!

well, this answers the question that asked you a little while ago if there was ever a conflict between The Know, ScrewAttack, and Inside Gaming. what made me wonder this was because nervous Nick was getting pushed to the Know for his Top 10s then suddenly The Know changed to Inside Gaming and nervous Nick and the existing staff of the Know were forced into retirement. The name change makes a lot of sense now because Rooster Teeth require Machinima properties like inside gaming.

Will we ever get more details about your departure from Game Attack? I personally found it intriguing that you stuck with the ship for so many years, from the creation of ScrewAttack to the assimilation into RT, then the creation of Game Attack to it becoming independent. From the outside, it seemed like the brand was taking steps in the right direction to being something that you and the other guys wanted for a long time. It was just really shocking that seemingly out of nowhere you decided to walk away, and it wasn't really mentioned or spoken about again?

Yeah besides the 2019 buyout, which the remaining Machinima Network MCN partners knew nothing about it until it happened. Basically just collecting the £ for the most part, cutting partners for unexplained reasons, until they closed its Fullscreen and Manchinima MCN networks on October 23rd 2021. If it wasn’t for C.V. They likely would have done this a year earlier. Other than taking some shows and moving them to other places like Red and Blue and what was mentioned above. They just bought the IP so competitors couldn’t use it. Anyways, one random question Craig while I’m here. What was the reasoning for DSP getting invited to your events, was it due to the guy being relevant at the time? Thank you.

This disrespect to your content definitely should have set off huge red flags. What made ScrewAttack special was the raw enthusiasm and love all you guys had for video games. When you watch scripted internet content, it's always very obvious whenever the creator is doing it for a paycheck or if they're doing it out of love. That was the strength of that brand. It didn't feel corporate or calculated, it felt spontaneous, unpredictable, and fun. There was genuine effort and it was obvious you took pride in that. There is a lot of very good internet content about games and retro games being made to this day, but I don't feel any of them quite capture the feel of what SA was all about. Machinima probably felt Craig was the heart and soul of what made SA so successful, and they might be right. However if they realized that, then they should have also known that insulting the content and work the team at SA had put so much work and passion into is like spitting on an artist's painting right in front of them.

Wow! I knew Michelle was horrible as I've heard some pretty dark stuff about them, but damn did it really show when they talked to you. Honestly that not caring about your content perspective were you talking to a computer or a robot like what the hell? It literally made me think of the KZitem algorithm. How ultimately videos don't get views based on their quality at all but just based on what's trending, and what popular things are shown on the thumbnail or in the tags or the hashtags or just what's popular at the time and therefore the algorithm feeds videos that get more views regardless of how big or small the channel is because although my channel is small I've seen much smaller channels get their videos pushed by the algorithm simply just because it's based on something popular that basically everybody would want to watch. Even stuff that is poorly edited or just a blatant rip off of something or just blatantly using already existing copyright footage without reviewing or doing anything of the sort that would follow fair use. The KZitem algorithm literally only cares about what generates more ad revenue and for human beings to remind me of an algorithm wow that really goes to show how out of touch machinima really was
