If people are saying you can't/shouldn't run in barefoot shoes, it's because they don't know how to run properly. Saying you can't run in barfoot shoes is like saying saying you can't run barefoot... it's stupid and makes no sense. I mean, what do they think people did before the invention of shoes (let alone the invention of the runing shoes we have today)? Walk for _everything_ ? No, we ran whenever we needed to and sometimes for loooong distances. Serisouly, people really need to do more research and reflect on what they're doing before immediatly blaming their problems on their shoes...

I'm from south east Asia and we wear slippers a lot, and personally I stay at home a lot so I'm barefoot almost all the time. When I'm out, I've never worn running shoes until I was 20+, the cushioning of my shoes were always quite minimal. I'm born with a rather wide feet so I can only fit shoes with wider toebox. That is to say I never have issue transitioning to barefoot shoes, just slightly sore for the first few days. So those who are against barefoot shoes really need to work on strengthening their feet instead of blaming the shoes itself.

What people don't get is that forefoot running is more exhausting to the calf muscles and therefore harder, because they take the load that would otherwise go right into the knee joints. That's like a natural spring that softens the blow and that's like it is "intended" by your body.

Tbh I never was as fast with running forefoot as I was with heelrunning. But that is kinda to be expected, you named the reason athletes use the "normal" shoes and run on the heel. It is faster and it takes less strength, but at the expense of your joint health, which have to endure much higher impact. These shoes exchange the natural cushioning the forefoot run offers for cushioning under your feet. But obviously top athletecism is not about health but performance. For the average person health and therefore forefoot running should be more important. (Also you don't necessary need barefoot shoes to run on your forefoot, I startet with them, but now I use them only in the gym and in everyday life, but run with "normal" shoes as they are much more robust)

Competitive runners should be forced to run half the length of the track completely barefoot during every track competition. And it should be the first half that is barefoot.

The most beneficial part of running is that your feet muscles getting stronger. Not your cardio vascular health, but your feet. So stop using comfortable footwear that allows you to run faster and longer without injuries. You are smarter than that.

This is the dumbest take Ive ever read. You really said foot MUSCLES are more beneficial than cardiovascular health? You can very easily live a full healthy life without feet, MILLIONS have before. If you have an unhealthy cardiovascular system you will very likely die decades before you otherwise would have. Go read ANY studies on cardiovascular health and all cause mortality.

There are Tribes in South America who are running in FlipFlops while some Marathon runners ran entirely barefoot, so finally stop crying first world kids and learn proper technique for a barefoot run.

Barefoot shoes are ndot shoes they are skin protection from filth and sharp stuff ....if you are running in a clean space run reallly bare not even vibrams
