I lived in Siem Reap for a year, by myself as a 20 year old girl from the USA. Had a blast, felt safer than I expected and was more afraid of going back to the US with all the crime. Siem Reap is a ridiculously small town, so much so that I ran into Angelina Jolie’s family once and then her film crew while they were casting for her movie, another time. Cambodians are lovely, very very relaxed people. Had massages daily, would visit the resorts for the day to swim, you can travel all around Asia easily. It’s cheap but you have to be smart with your money there or you’ll pay way more than necessary. Highly recommend it. 👍🏻

Comparison on the people as well as the country might give tourists the real perspective. In general Cambodia is good for budget travelers while Thailand have market for all tourism levels which means as expected, the standard in Thailand are a lot higher. Food in Thailand is also very good and more variety with value for money. Cambodia are not yet anywhere near in the same league as Thailand when talking about basic adequate general standards from services and transportation or infrastructures, especially below benchmarks in healthcare. Both country for tourist in regards of safety concerns are acceptable. So at the end of the day, it’s down to what type of tourist you are or what sort of experience you are looking to have from your travel. Though the people kindness is probably similar as long as you are lucky enough to avoid those scammer attacks.

Nice video Chai 🙏 I'm from California and tired of life here. I'm almost 40 and looking for a change. I visited Thailand, Laos and Cambodia years ago in 2006. I remember how nice people were in Battambang, although shy at first. They were very hospitable and friendly. My question is for long term staying do you think access to clean water and medical services is possible? I heard those two things can be an issue especially in certain parts of the country. If I stayed long term from what I've heard, I'd have to travel to Bangkok if I wanted quality medical services. But otherwise basic primary care check ups and dental services are accessible. If anyone else has insight please chime in thank you 👍

Ey mate, yeah I’ve talked to a lot of people in Cambodia as of today and I’ve noticed a lot of people are not amused by the healthcare here. They would go home or to Thailand for serious injuries. I’ve never seen a hospital from the inside in Cambodia though. The expensive hospital I’ve heard are clean and good enough but very expensive. I’d advise to come over for a few month and see this you’re feeling. Maybe visit some hospitals? Only you can say if you feel comfortable here or not 😊

You have to understand the country just started to really develop for only 20 years. It's gonna take time for Cambodia to catch up but it's developing at such a rapid pace that most foreign people are not aware of. They are building the first international standard Hospital facility and school soon. The PP and Siem Reap international aiport will be completed soon and will have direct flights from Cambodia to Western countries. So I think it just comes down to time.

Gotta be brutally honest about this country. I went there in 2019 right before the pandemic. What I don’t like about this country is how dirty and lawless it is. There’s not enough sidewalks to walk. Walking in this country especially in Phnom Penh is a bad idea. Walking on some streets I could smell urine and stinky garbages littered almost everywhere and even in river and lake. Garbages were littered everywhere I went and it wasn’t pleasant to see. Traffic was even worse. Almost all drivers in their cars, motorcycles drove very recklessly and fast, apparently seeming like they know nothing about traffic laws. I was once almost got hit by a guy in motorcycle while I crossed the road even with the traffic light showing red on his side but somehow he and along with others still insisted to go. A lot of cars and Tuk Tuk didnt park right either making it hard for other vehicles to cross the road. It’s like this country is lawless in traffic or something. That’s what I don’t like about this country. That said, locals were very friendly and helpful. I like the culture, I like the food and I like the people in this country.

There are no comparison between Thailand, Vietnamese and Cambodia, the Cambodian girls are more refined, shy, timid and they are definitely more beautiful with softer skin, slim bodies and more loving even though they do not show publicly any affection like holding hands or kissing, privately they are the opposite, I wonder if there huge difference boils down to no books on sex, No pornography no adult shops and it might be there innocence that makes them just that much better, I have a Cambodian partner of 8 years and very happy.

The othert side of the coin, a couple of things that are really annoying about Cambodia from an expat. 1. Their ridiculous attitude to the US dollar. If its marked or has any imperfections they will not take it, however they will sneak imperfect notes to you in your change! `1They have there own currency the Reil and it does not matter what state the notes are in!, Makes absolutely no sense at all and the only country in the world that does this! 2. The fact that they always charge foreigners more than locals to see the attractions.

Awesome work. These interviews are always good. Surely the place isn't as scary as the first guy was suggesting. I think if you treat everyone respectfully then it is highly unlikely they will start with the face slaps and whatever else. Great selection of interviews again. You are pretty good at this champ 🤩

Thanks Steven! Haha yeah I’m pretty sure if you get a slap in your face from a bar lady you do deserve it 😜 be respectful and stay calm at all times and you’ll have the best time 😊 thank again sir Steven 🏆

I agree, that guy looked a bit like a bar mongering troublemaker. A bit of the stuff that he mentioned was bogus info, such as what he said about the rain in Siem Reap.
There are different places for different reasons to visit in Cambodia, Kompot (especially Boko Mountain), Koh Rong (For those who like tropical and white sand beach), Koh kong, Battambang, Rattanakiri, MondolKiri (The word "Kiri" is mean Mountains so you know what it feel like when visit there), and Preah Vihear province (There's Temple called "Preah Vihear" on the top of mountain with quite amazing view).

Siem Reap too, that’s where Angkor Wat resides, known as the biggest religious temple. Many tourist attractions there. I went to it 4 years ago with my family members that live here in Phnom Penh Cambodia. It’s pretty fun and big as hell. Like it’s massive. The travel bus ride is also very fun with a lot of friends and relatives. Though it’s unfortunate, because I live in America. So, I have to leave before school starts again. I only get to come every 2-4 years.

Yes, had the most lovely beach vacation in Koh Rong while living in Cambodia. I miss the white sand and the delicious bbq squid with lime that was for sale all day freshly caught from the beach, I think about it so often haha

@@Cococonutt sadly now private company get licenses from government and they build up resorts, airport… on the island. not what you used to visit before.

I would add Kampong Cham, a nice town along the Mekong river, which is my favorite place in the kingdom. The town is quiet in daytime but becomes dynamic in the evening on the riverside, and there's almost no tourist at all compared to other provincial cities like Kampot or Battambang (and Siem Reap of course). I love spending some times in Kampong Cham as I don't live far, always a pleasure to visit !

The young lady’s tips were great. One thing to watch out for in the massage places involves potential theft while you’re getting the massage. My Cambodian girlfriend and i were getting a couples massage, both of us face down on the bed. During the massage we heard a 3rd lady come in and chat briefly. Later, my girlfriend realized that $100 had been stolen from her purse. Otherwise, great country! Since my girlfriend is Cambodian things like the temples were free for her, discounts elsewhere for her, including the zip line excursion.

Stupid is as stupid does. Clothes off around strangers. Stranger danger. We never learn.
