@@scarpfish That's how it is with pretty much every generation ever I guess. I thought the 90's and 2000's were garbage when I was a child and teen back in those years. I wasn't one of those kids that really liked or identified with my own generation. My parents were older than my peer's parents, and my grandparents partially raised us also. I valued different things because of being raised like that. But I'd go back to that time compared to this now.

OMG, the summer of 1983, 10 years old without a care in the world, hanging out at the local pool, hearing this song over the speakers, riding my bike to the local convenience store where $1 was enough to get you a bag of chips and a can of Coke or a two-sticked popsicle and some gobstoppers, then riding home to watch MTV videos. What I wouldn't do to go back to those days!

I hope some kids are listening to this in 2023! Don't be fooled by all the techno gadgets and pitfalls of the hijacked metoo movement. We were all having fun when this song was released and it most definitely fit well into a teenage boys growing interest in their romantic counterparts. Part fantasy part reality, but it energized you and made those Saturday nights and hopefully Sunday mornings even more real even more fun. What I am saying young'uns is that don't leave all the fun we had behind for whatever they sell nowadays for romance and dating. Be fantastical yourselves and revel like we did, because your world is changing faster than ours did. And it would be a shame if this sort of fun wasn't had by you all too. I don't wish you could have been there, I want you all to revive and prolong the magic contained in these 80's songs and also try the 70's, Bob Seger, Mellencamp, who ever did the "cuts like a knife" song, Stevie Nicks, Marvin Gaye, just so many. Current artists should consider covers also to keep it all alive. Look, some of this music is responsible for your parents existence and by extension you. Let the process happen all over again for you. Not sure there is much of that type of music produced today. Have a nice day folks.

@@roytofilovski9530 It's distorted-guitar-driven 80s music. By the standard of the time (clean, phasered guitar backseating to synth), it's decidedly harder than most of the pop rock of the time. That's not to say it's heavy metal or anything, but it's definitely not some Steve Winwood style soft rock either. Also, all The Tubes prior to this song were definitely less poppy and polished than this.

Oh yea North carroll high school. I had the tubes cassette jamming in my 71 Chrysler Newport. Such a big car, had two ash trays up front. I loved this band. Wore that cassette out
