Technology with EVs moves so fast it is almost impossible to develop and build a prototype that can keep up. Nobody's fault. I recently retired from a major defense company (LM) in rapid prototyping and development of Unmanned Air Vehicles. Even with the resources we had it was impossible to keep up with at times. Constant changes are just part of the game. Never give up.

I believe it’s a slap in the face, when you spend 4 to 5 years of your time custom building a vehicle drive train from scratch, I would not be a happy camper 😢 when the car is almost ready, I mean do you really need power steering in a vehicle that small or is AC so important that you can’t drive the car, these items could be added later, Driving and working the bugs out, and that’s with any custom built car, would at least get it out and on the road. Too many manufacturers have gone out of business in the last few years, which is not under any ones control, I feel bad for Bodie and Tim, just hope they don’t give up, it will be an Amazing Project when it is completed 😅😊😎🏆

Electric vehicles are like computers and cell phones - obsolete models within a year or so. I think this is the first “build” I’ve seen where someone has tried a transmission and solid axle. Most you see are basically Tesla swaps where they take the motor, battery pack, and drive axles from the Tesla and modify them to fit whatever vehicle it’s going into. I’ve never seen a custom hot rod ( other than Rich Rebuilds) built into an EV. Even he just swapped components. Good work Bodie. Even if they are moving the motor work to another place, the car itself looks great. You had to come up with everything on the fly with only a background of working on gas vehicles. The other company is probably made up of former Tesla engineers and have years of experience. You had zero and look what you were able to do. Nowadays you can literally order a kit to retrofit gas vehicles. TFL recently has an old F100 converted. Insane times we are in.

This kind of tech and computers evolves so fast that a lot of these parts will be outdated within a year or two and there is no catching up. Its like running in a squirrel cage trying to reach the end of the road. Shoot for a goal - regardless and make it happen. Forget about keeping up with the Jones'. Although I agree with Tim about these changes - but he needs to hold the course with the plans he's making now., because by the time it's finished even if it gets finished in a couple months - it is quite possible, that it will be outdated. I'm anxious to see the final version and see Tim take it for its first cruise! Oh Yeah!

I think the problem is you guys were trying to build the nicest most perfect street rod with zero defects on the body and the fenders and the doors and other mechanicals, but with a research and development attitude towards the drive train. I would’ve stuck with the Three motor set up with either sprag clutches or In-N-Out clutches on two of the motors. This way you could build a perfect, beautiful, moderately powered electric wonder. And when you wanna go to the track and burn down a pair of tires you push a button and flip the lever and engage the other two motors. I just found this channel a few days ago. Seeing the age Of the video, I certainly hope that they finally got a rolling vehicle. I’ll be looking for it.

Great build! A/C unit Would a Yaris or Prius A/C, Power steering and brakes not work just fine? The conversion firms in San Diego tend to use the Prius accelerator pedal already, so Toyota parts are already acceptable in conversions today why not A/C and PS? I looked into two motors and to sync them, from front wheel drive cars. It is doable and deliverers 400 ft lbs., however not so viable on a 3500lb hot rod. Looking forward to the next video !

I don't know much about EV's and their voltages but if you could find a Tesla that wasn't burnt up in a junkyard you could use the motor, controler, a/c and power steering units if they will work with your existing batteries/voltage. One stop shopping to speed this never ending, retire from the project up. Like an upset customer once told me, "It's not rocket science just get er done". Good luck Bodie, hope you catch a break and things start falling into place before your new parts get out-dated again. It has to be frustrating as hell.

you need to hire me Tim... i love electricity, but i'm not an electrician, i'm a helper you need a helper. you must be throwing it over the belt line, not throwing it 'at' the beltline... sry 4 the spam... 2:41 just watching Tim Allen is like a dream, lol. and Kady's voice in the background is like the dream-maker omg. You guys are awesome. but then you get into the thing about the electric cooling and i posted on another video about engel coolers. I just think those ppl might have a solution. I stumbled on that website years ago looking for a nice cooler to have in a big rig for back when i was over the road trucking. It appeared they have been able to develop a small form compressor that's lighter and less bulky but provided essential output. It could be all just a bunch of mumbo jumbo, but idk. I think it's worth looking into if at all possible to try and salvage the rig. wait! 8:30 ! Kady! you cheated. you opened your mouth again, you're the camera lady you can't do that Kady! :P I guess i'm just a little thrown back by the throwback feel of this whole series, and i have to keep going back to Kady. She's just really done a good job, and I like that wholesome backyard type video recordering skill mojo she gives off through her content. Or should i say her contribution towards creating good content. It's everyone's content really at the end of the day :) Technology in that area is just contently moving into the future at a very high rate of speed> i can definitely see how this build has been a struggle with keeping a particular idea in place while trying to stay relevant. Yes God it only took like a week to make the world, but that was God. Were just merely playmates with legos compared to him :)

Many KZitemrs are now going to other KZitemrs with specific expertise in certain disciplines to overcome problems with their builds such as: Samcrac trailered his Ferrari to VTuneds garage (eight hours away) to repair a particularly nasty front end and frame. If I'm frustrated watching this build, I can only imagine how Tim must feel. He's being very patient considering all factors. I've seen many builds of the electric aftermarket vehicles, but I know Tim had a very specific look in mind necessitating certain constraints. It would seem that many "old school" techniques are being used for "new school" technologies. I feel for Bodie as he's being blamed, but he took on a build that perhaps was far too challenging.

To Hanzy, power steering is assisted by using a valve to cause hydraulic fluid To move the steering gear. In most EV cars, steering is by wire. Meaning the software sends signal to the acctuators. This is what they can not find.
