I understand that this was one of 3 songs of the new album "Keep me Fed" that they collaborated on with Dan Lancaster, Muse's keyboardist on their tours. Last year they opened 4 dates for Muse in Mexico and 5 in Europe, where they also shared those stages with Royal Blood in addition to opening 2 dates for them in the Netherlands.

Loved this! 🤘 Loved your initial take on the live version too, and now how you've contrasted the two versions. Wonderful explanation of possible studio techniques used. Even though I've heard this song dozens of times, I never noticed how the guitars were panned slightly both sides of center early on in the song, but at the end they were panned hard left and right. Thanks for giving me even more appreciation for this song than I already had.

You nailed Dany's solo. In one of the rig rundowns she briefly explains her expression pedal from wahh (which she states she doesn't use much), to other effects she can send to it including an octave splitter or 3rds, fifths etc.... Enjoying your TW breakdowns. Keep us Warned....

@@JbfMusicGuitar It's a wonderful journey exploring these girls. Their entire history is documented on YT back to when they were tiny little concert pianist along with many interviews and vlogs that lay bare who they are and how they became so passionate about music. Since they were signed (during those dark days of lock down) they've become to be known as pit bulls (more like a pack of Lionesses according to David Bendeth and crew) in the studio for shaping their own sound. I think you'll enjoy it....:)

Excellent breakdown on how it was done, live Dany uses a Kemper with setups for each parts of each song. I’m not 100% about which fuzz she’s using but I know that she used a Zvex fuzz factory in the past - when she had her first Manson it was a Matt Bellamy signature model which had the Fuzz factory onboard, so she was used to it. I don’t think she was using the Baritone on this sometimes she uses one of her PRS’s downtuned. Automatic Sun will show you her work with a Baritone tuned down to A, it’s a banger!

Kemper or Axe just make so much more sense logistically. Have never used a Zvex Fuzz myself- had a quick listen there, subtle fizzle to that totally filthy glitch style fuzz, wonderful! Cool, will try and make a mental note of the Baritone being use for that song. I'll probably forget and just be really confused about the tone, lmao

@@JbfMusicGuitar there’s a Gearmaster’s review and interview of each of them and their setup, it’s a couple of years out of date but even so it tells you a lot of relevant info. I saw them with Muse last year at Plymouth, a double whammy for me 😁 and this year at Birmingham (much closer to home) both were amazing concerts, if you get the chance to see them live it would definitely be a blast! 💥 Edit: the Zvex will also self oscillate if you’re not careful what you alter, it can be a bit unpredictable used live - good reason to use it in conjunction with the Kemper 😆

That was a very thorough and informative analysis.👍You hit the nail in the head with their influences, the girls are huge Muse fans and have actually opened for them 4 times in Mexico and 5 times in Europe. Fun fact: Matt Bellamy gifted a one of a kind Manson guitar to Dany (lead singer).

Great dissection of Burnout. I really appreciate that those who know can show the way TW does things that could go very wrong, but they always get it to work. All of their albums have very different sound, and all are great sonically. They have said that this album was built for live performance. Can't wait to see them live.

Lmao, that's probably one of the best pedal names I've heard! Had a quick listen to it, sounds very much like you could get this kinda sound out of it... The controls are just pizza, pineapple and a pig, genius. Cheers for the insight!

Dany is playing a (downtuned!) baritone guitar. Edit: she did on Automatic Sun, I'm not sure about this one. Someone will correct me... 🤔

@@JbfMusicGuitar, as I said, I'm not sure. I know that on Automatic Sun Dany played a drop-A tuned baritone guitar, while Ale played a base that was also drop-A tuned. That doesn't necessarily mean that they did that on this song as well. They could, but I wouldn't be able to tell that myself. However, many reactors have remarked on that.
