Wow. This was a great post. I enjoyed your delivery just as much as the message itself. Thanks.

I agree with the things you say about living life every day, but I would add one nugget of advice. And I think this applies especially to people from the USA. Live life without debt. Don’t sell yourself into slavery under the guise of easy loans. Once you are in the trap it is extremely difficult to escape.

My mum was 10 years plus in a care home. I’d love to be able to say it was ok. It wasn’t. They feed the residents, they keep them in a room and keep them reasonably clean. Other than that they don’t get anything. There’s no view no pleasure just existence. She passed away a year ago now. She never wanted to go the way she did. In many ways it’s better to open the door take a deep breath of fresh air and croak. If you have had a life that’s fulfilling then that’s great

My younger brother died last year at 76. He had parkinsons for many years but lived a good life for many years before his death. He was very good at business and died a wealthy man. He and his 3rd wife lived a good life for years, travling around the world. I am 81 and I plan on being around for several more years. I enjoy my retirement as I can now do the things I love to do. I haven't retired from life. I now have time to learn about a new environment, a new Nature. I am having to learn about new birds, new insects, new volcanos. new plants.

I 'died' twice when I was younger, in my 20s, having been shot while travelling in Russia as well as having experienced a serious accident that left me hospitalised for over a year. I also had to deal with a medical issue when I was in my mid-forties, but that was dealt with. I am now very fatalistic and have no fear of death. I have travelled/worked all over the world, and now I live in the Philippines with my family. Over the past 10 years I have taken time to travel for a month in Cuba, a month in Honduras and a month in Costa Rica. My Filipina wife baulked at a trip to Europe, because of the cost (which we could easily afford, but she still had the Filipina mentality vis-a-vis expenditure). I am 57. I am fairly fit and healthy. Que sera sera.
