Someday I might pickup a cheap used one just to hang it up next to all the fenders but - When the only argument for buying one is: "but you can't compare it to other brands (because I am a tone snob)" it makes sense why that doesn't really hold up to most consumers. People looking for more affordable but great sounding Gibson Les Paul's could look at early 90s Gibson Les Paul Studios. You can still pick those up for about £800-900. Some of them, particularly the wine ones with ebony necks nowhave a classic look which is stunning to me too. Below that, the discontinued Les Paul Tributes do actually sound really good, and I like their finish. Their light and mine plays really well, and sounds fantastic. If you can try a few and pick the best one, they can be a bargain, at only a couple of hundred more than the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson. The Epiphones are really great too, but for me personally, I slightly prefer the aesthetic and sound of the stripped down Les Paul Tribute. They never should have discontinued that range. But, I guess they wanted people to force people to pay £1500+ for Studios.

1. I wonder how much cost/price difference the binding makes? 2. The benefit of no binding is easier fret repair. 3. The blueberry burst isn't even a burst. 4. I remember when standards were around $1,700. 5. For that price it's smarter to buy a used standard or classic in today's over saturated market.

Well, the NANO CORTEX, watched a few reviews, seems to be the PERFECT gigging solution! I want to see you Andy, geting hold of one of these and giving a proper user review! One of the reviews I watched made everything look really simply to capture and get a right stonking tone! For something at home? Well, to me, it feels perfect and way better than a practice amp! Could be wrong but, this seems to have the simplicity for use along with the Pro sounds we all dream of! Do it Andy, do it! My only gripe is, yes, the price! There is a lot of gear out there, way cheaper! I think 399EUR would have been a more sensible price giving retailers some flexibility to discount 🙂

The neck binding on the Studio is probably a feel thing, so while the guitar might look like a slightly lesser Les Paul, it doesn't sound or feel much different from its more expensive Standard counterparts. As for the finishes, they've done plenty of burst Studios in the past (tobacco, silver, fire, smokehouse), and I guess the blue guitars have been pretty popular.

I'm really happy to see Fender doing this. We need these legacy brands bringing in new things rather than going the re-issue after re-issue route *coughGibsoncough*. Amp captures and amp models are different things. A capture is just a snapshot of some settings, while a model lets you adjust all the settings. So, if you're someone who prefers models to captures, capturing the model is clearly not what you want. I'm wondering if maybe Neural is planning a second product to sell alongside the Nanocortex to handle plug-ins. Probably not, but it seems clear there is a huge demand for something like that. Weird that they haven't done it.

Not that it’s cheap but the Les Paul studio has been $1500 for many years I think…not sure why $1600 is such a surprise considering they added more desirable burstbucker pickups and neck binding. It’s also $400 cheaper than the studio modern they released last year. And though there are better alternatives…an Epiphone is not one of them imo. Eastman, ESP and anything made in Japan would be my choice at this price point. P.s. I still enjoy your funny comments.

The Nano Cortex is an odd product - is there much of a market for guitarists with a lot of gear worth capturing, are interested in Neural DSP and haven't already bought a QC? It would make more sense (to me at least) for them to make an affordable entry point to their modelling - remove the touch screen, the capture tech, and a bunch of the footswitches, maybe halve the processing power, and control it all from their desktop software, for around the cost of the HX Stomp. Feels like that would be a more viable product.

It's not for me, and the severe limitation in terms of what the Nano can do for it's price (only one fixed chain, where you can only swap the capture and the IR, not anything else or the order, and you only ever have one type of reverb, one type of delay, and the only modulation effect is chorus) just doesn't make me want to jump into their ecosystem when there are much more powerful options for less money.
