@@dharmatycoon I took it as fear but not fear of reprisal. Stringer is portrayed as someone who has a certain vision he wants and is willing to lie and manipulate and do literally whatever to enact that. And usually when he's lying or manipulating, you can see a moment where he's looking at the person and seeing if his manipulation and lies are taking root. Here, he was trying to talk to Avon and push him to accept Dee's death, and come back into the fold, and accept that war wasn't the right path. And then in that moment where he lets him up, he is rapidly trying to assess if he overplayed his hand by revealing the info- he's trying to see if he messed up his manipulation and caused the Avon connection to be permanently broken.

Stringer's timing was perfect. McNulty was sniffing around, stirring up dust, Avon was questioning his street creds. There was no better time to unload the burden of guilt he carried. Contrary to what some have said, Stringer's confession is not what had him killed. Avon went back to business as usual after this scene, even lying to his sister to protect Stringer and the business. When you think about it, Killing DeAngelo was the right move, business-wise- I opine. DeAngelo was acting cold towards Avon in prison. DeAngelo flipped then backtracked because of his mother. Business is business. I would have had DeAngelo knocked off too.

@@nateajv12 Pretty much, but Avon would have allowed Mosone to kill Stringer regardless of the D'Angelo issue. He could have killed Stringer himself, hell he didnt get mad after from when Stringer told him about it. He didnt really want to give Stringer to Mosone either, but he couldnt afford to be at war with Omar/Mosone and Marlo crew.

Before I used to not like stringer and fuck with Avon more but overtime i realised that taking out D’angelo was the right thing to do according to the game. It weren’t no different from stringer and Avon authorising Wallace to get killed. The only difference was D was family but this is the game and stringer wasn’t wrong according to the game

stringer's ego got him killed. this scene right here sealed his fate. he wanted to prove he was hard so bad, he told his partner he killed his nephew... avon was right. he's not smart.

For the idiots not in the know, Avon always tried to bully String, and ultimately gotten what he deserved in the end, as well as Stringer did in the end too for what he did to Wallace, even though Wallace was running his chops. Sad anomaly really. Stringer WAS smart but made bad decisions, and Avon was brave, but stupid. Stringer should've gotten out when he said he was.
