The effects on muscles from statins are very real. I had major bilateral knee pain to the point where I was unable to stand from a sitting position. I am in relatively good shape and never had any joint pain before my statin. I stopped the statin and was 80% better in a week and 100% better in 3 weeks. I’ll never take a statin again.

Me to. Good luck. So far I have reversed high blood pressure and I lost 60 lbs. Working on the decades of damage now from a horrible diet etc. to carnivore/ketovore as work on becoming fat adapted again and fully carnivore after eating a few carbs daily for the last few weeks. I have had increased joint pain and I do not gain fat just saggy skin if I eat junk but, 3 days fasting and i can reverse that however I want to stay as fit as possible so I can do as much as possible for as long as I can. So far it has made a huge difference. The only person I am cheating is myself when I eat chocolate or carbs. I am trying to save my life as funny as it sounds. Know what I mean ? Sounds like it. I hope you do well. Good luck.

My Dad was never over weight but died of a heart attack at age 64 - as both his parents and several brothers 😢 that was in 1974 - he grew up on a farm and worked hard all his life, was a dairy farmer sold it then had his own coal and fuel oil business - he had his 1st heart attack at the age of 60 and of course they put him on a low salt diet- he had normal blood pressure don't know about any other markers? I do know he was more of a worrier- according to my Mom- he also ate lotsa eggs and bacon ,pickled pigs feet and scrapple at times 😂 he did have desserts but not that often - he loved raison filled cookies which were a special treat- ! So I'm thinking more hereditary- both his parents were not over weight but died in 60's of heart disease 😢

I'm sorry you lost your dad far too early. My dad smoked for many years and passed with lung cancer at 76. However, my mom passed two years ago at 97! So imagine my shock when I had a recent heart attack at 69! Trying to heal...testing process with cardiologist and a naturopath doctor. Cardiologist already started talking statins...even before bloodwork! Should be an interesting follow up session!

My doctor told me that my weight loss does increase the risk of weight related inflammation like heart disease and diabetes . I lost 46 pounds (202 to 156). She even doesn’t recommend cholesterol pills because my levels were normal. She is supportive of my “home cooking” high protein diet because it helps me feel fuller longer

I agree with Almost everything he says, except using sugar substitutes to overcome sugar addiction. Speaking from experience the best way to overcome sugar addiction is to just quit having anything sweet... substitutes can be added later if they won't lead to a relapse.

I second this. Been carnivore for 9 months, and until I cut out diet soda etc my sugar cravings were ridiculous. Now it's black coffee, water, and intermittent fasting. I love his simple information even if it seems to be the same info being retold on other channels. No need for new complicated “ground breaking” info to get clicks/views. I can keep hearing him repeat the same keto message forever and it keeps me on track during my health journey.

ALL chronic disease is a choice! I’ve been seeing so many videos lately about people complaining about the high cost of pharmaceutical drugs. Now, I’m not saying that drugs can’t be helpful sometimes and that the costs of drugs isn’t outrageous in the U.S., but drugs are not NEEDED in most situations. They are not something that is a given as we age. It is what you are putting in your mouth!

If you have a thyroid condition (like Hashimoto's like me) you do not want to do low carb, it tanks your metabolism and hormones, specifically your T3. Already been there and got the T shirt. By eating animal based, cutting out seed oils and all restaurant meals (since Dec 2023) I have had 3 medication reductions (300 mcg to 88 mcg of Levoxyl) since then. I eat an animal based diet of at least 100 carbs a day from fruit and honey. I never want to go back to what I was doing before.

Thank you very much for this interview! The only thing I didn't like about it is that it was too short. I have followed Dr. Eric Westman's science-based keto diet consistently for 5 years. It's a very meat heavy, very low plant keto diet. As a result I've reversed hypertension, severe acid reflux, severe allergies, high triglycerides, and low HDL. I lost 35 lbs of fat without even trying and gained muscle mass. My wife has been eating the same way and she has reversed symptoms of her autoimmune disorder, lost significant body fat without trying, and we both enjoy better sleep, consistent high energy all day long, and mental clarity. My father in-law has been following the same way of eating and he has reversed type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, mild cognitive decline, and lost significant body fat with zero exercise. His doctor has de-prescribed most of his many medications. I love and follow many of the health professionals and other influencers in the low-carb eating space, but Dr. Eric Westman is by far my favorite and the one I trust the most. My family and I have so much to thank him for.

Basically people should know by now that our main source of energy isn't glucose it's fatty acids. Fruits and Vegetables have phytotoxins which means they will cause major isssues for people with autoimmune problems and for those that don't have that is still harmful. Eggs and meat are the best food for human consumption mostly eggs because of all his whole complete amino acids profile. Carbs is equal to glucose we don't need fiber at all in fact we don't digest it. Learn about Biochemistry and you should be set for life in your nutrition 🤓

I don't know....pride comes before the fall. It's not fear mongering recognizing a truth. There is no actual need for carbs, that is why it's best to really limit them. It's not about fear, it's about truth and wisdom.

@@BriarRoseA to survive no you don't need carbs, but who wants to just survive. But to thrive ? Yes glucose is what the brain craves and uses better then anything else there is tons of research showing the premium effect of glucose on your brain . Carbs for muscle recovery and for energy activity. Is way better utilized than fat. Why does every pro athlete ever eat carbs ? They are the fittest most in shape healthiest people on earth. You think carbs are hurting them ? Now if you lead a sedentary lifestyle and you don't move alot and don't lift weights and don't exercise then sure carbs won't do much for you other than help your brain work better. But if you move a lot and do resistance training like everyone absolutely should using carbs as a tool will help you so much more than just eating fat.

It is too bad that Dr. Westman does not look that healthy, maybe because of not paying attention to the nature and the quality of the food, i.e., just focusing on ketosis/metabolism. To function the best ketogenic metabolism we need to have good cells, mitochondria, tissues, organs... built from best quality sources. But he mostly ignores this part and does not apply nature's principles in 'his studies'. Also, he never posts videos on his original studies/publications--too much criticism of other people without any of his original studies and evidence... He always says there is no evidence to other people, but he does not have evidence either... So I think he is so behind in science. I always tell him to post his original studies instead of just debunking other people's posts without any good evidence. We want new, original information from good scientists. 😓
