2:00 I wouldn’t say music can’t save someones life. The song “Stayin Alive” is a good song to know when performing CPR without much training because the tempo is the same tempo you should use in chest compressions (so doing a compression for each beat is a helpful strategy if you don’t know the compression rate normally). I’m sure this song saves at least a dozen lives every year because of that, which is quite funny considering the name of the song. However, if you tried to use one of Jacob Sartorius’s songs for the beat to CPR, the unconscious person would probably die. If you sang the song out loud they would die twice as fast.

As a music major (in music production/songwriting), if you’re older and just getting into music…you can still be good at it. Just listen to a ton of GOOD music. Know what is objectively good and what is objectively bad and judge your own music the same way you would any other song. If you get attached to your writing, you’re gonna overlook things that really need to be changed and made better. ✌️

I must admit that as a teenager, you don't know jack shit about love, what is love, etc... However, at 15 you could feel something that you think is love and because of circumstances, you pour your whole heart into this relationship. There was this girl. I had been friends with her for years, seeing her off and on a couple of times a month and we would hang out for like 3 hours each time we would see each other. One day near Valentine's Day when I was 13, she handed me a valentine and it had her number on it and said to call her. We start talking every day, for hours. We start hanging out more, we start being boyfriend and girlfriend. This goes on for a couple of years. Mind you, my parents got divorced during this time and this was my first relationship, so I pour my all into this relationship. So, I am 15 and she starts acting odd. Eventually, I find out that she started messing around with another guy and we break up. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn't have my family support. I didn't have a relationship anymore. My relationship with my friends were on the bricks. I felt so alone. Fast forward to when I am around 17-18 years old. Somehow, the girl and me start talking again. She tells me how big of a mistake it was to break up with me and how much she regrets it and if we get back together, I won't regret it. So, I give in. We start dating again. Everything is going great. I start seeing my future intertwined with hers. I am 20 years old, we are both college students, we are both trying to do the "Adult Life". Out of nowhere she just breaks up with me. It was totally unexpected. We had bills that we were paying of each others and out of nowhere, "I need a break". Sure, fine, take as much time as you need. Taking time didn't include dating other people. She started dating this other guy and in less than a month she is married to him. Now, I have invested about 5 years in this relationship and everywhere I drive, everything I see, reminds me of her. I needed to do something different and get away from the bullshit. So, I join the Marine Corps and I go to California, I go to North Carolina, I have been to 13 different countries. I come home on leave facing a deployment to Iraq. Guess who hears I am in town. Married life for her isn't all it is cracked up to be. Here am I looking chiseled, with a new SUV, and money to throw around. She wants to be with me and move to North Carolina with me. Knowing Marines the way I do and knowing her past, there was no way that I could trust her alone around other Marines. I saw the potential of my heart being broken again and maybe me doing something bad because of it. I left her be in Illinois (still hit it while I was on leave though). She is married to some other guy and I hope she is happy. I have been happily married for 15 years and have a daughter. My experience with her can be summed up by the song "Unanswered Prayers" by Garth Brooks.
