How to increase the chances of NOT being attacked 1) Don't swim at dawn 2) Don't swim at dusk 3) Don't swim on cloudy, rainy or stormy days or churned up rough seas 4) Don't swim when bait balls or pelagic species are running. 5) Look out for bird activity focusing on a single area (means a shark has just ripped something apart and they are waiting for the op to dive in scraps) 6) Don't swim with seals or sea lions congregations 7) Don't jump off boats into deep water (There's not much food out in the middle of the ocean so anything will be investigated and bitten to determine viability of a meal) 8) Don't urinate when in the water as it's been known to attract sharks 9) Don't swim with dogs or other pets as the animals make erratic sounds that are known to attract sharks 10) Don't swim alone on an empty beach if your not familiar with the area 11) Don't swim when rock fishermen are ballooning for tuna or sharks.

My child and friend were paddle boarding and were young. Still in elementary school. The girls were in the water and I felt a school of fish slamming into our legs. I knew that the fish were running from something and I quickly told them to get out of the water ASAP. Shorty after we were on shore, we saw a shark fin exactly where we were boarding. But I kind of hope people believe that so they don't hate them and kill them. My biggest issue with shark kills is that people seem to feel they have the right to kill the shark for no logical reason. I mean, who feels sorry for the fool who jumps in a lion enclosure? Big whopping surprise if you get eaten by a shark in the ocean. Very sad. But too bad. People know the risk.

That’s not an investigatory bite or “mistaken identity” like Simon nellis who was bitten in half and then afterwards the great white consumed the pieces or Vladimir popov who was pieced apart by a tiger shark (first his arm, then the other then it but his face then it big off and ate his legs and then bit off his head and ate it then swam around with his torso for half an hour) or Heather Boswell who was attacked by a 20ft great white in open water after it bit her friend….. it bit two people and then came back and bit her leg off (all of these attacks were captured on video btw so we have overwhelming proof this all happened not just relying on someone’s account) just because myth busters played with some baby sharks doesn’t mean it proves anything at all.

@louielouie684

Humans for sure have done and continue to do some pretty cruel things for seemingly no good reason however they are not the only ones in the animal kingdom. Consider these: Domestic Cats: They are known to hunt and kill birds and rodents often without consuming them. This behavior is believed to be a result of their natural hunting instincts. Dolphins: Some species of dolphins, like the bottlenose, have been observed displaying aggressive behavior towards other marine animals, such as porpoises, and this can sometimes result in death. The reasons for this are not fully understood but could be related to play, social hierarchy, or stress behaviors. Orcas (Killer Whales): Orcas have been known to play with their prey, especially when teaching their young how to hunt. They might toss their catch around without eating it immediately. Chimpanzees: They have complex social structures and have been observed to engage in lethal intergroup aggression, which can sometimes resemble 'warfare'. This behavior may be driven by territorial disputes or competition for resources.

Wet-suit companies have been making wetsuits that are NOT black now, due to the fact that the black wetsuit looks very similar to the pinnipeds that is the shark's favorite prey. I went in the ocean as a teenager with a friend and her older boyfriend years ago, just off Townsville, right near the river mouth, but properly in the ocean. Known tiger shark breeding ground between Townsville and Magnetic Island, mind you, not to mention being near a river mouth. Anyway, my mate was trying to water ski (that was actually funny as she had mouthed off about what a pro she was to me, but couldn't even get out of the water once), but couldn't so gave up. I have always been scared of the ocean, so i refused to ski, but did agree to sit in a tube (with a PVC base) and get towed behind the boat. As i sat waiting, something HUGE bumped into the bottom of the tube, twice, only maybe a second or two in between. I took it as one massive animal. Physically lifted me out of the water in the tube. I yelled to pull me in. They went "WHAT?" as they coukdnt hear me and then I just lost it, screaming,. "F***ING PULL ME IN! NOW! NOW!" To make matters worse, after deciding that none of us was getting in the water agin, we started to head back, only to find we had a leak in the bottom of the boat! We were literally bailing water and freaking the heck out, heading in and trying not to go too fast as it sped the leak up. Can you believe the coast guard?! They came out, told us they saw we needed help and said they'd tow us in for a donation!! My mate's boyfriend of course said yes and then actually paid them!! I couldn't believe their nerve, what, you'll leave us here otherwise? That was their attitude. Of course, there's no way they would have, but that's ridiuclous. I would have happily donated, but not after that attitude.

It’s always crazy to me when reward money is offered for the body of the animal that ate a person. HOW WOULD YOU FIND THAT SHARK? You’d find A SHARK for sure but how exactly would you know it was that particular shark especially if so much time has went by? You’d have to claim its life, gut it and hope the remains are still there to be positive. And if so much time has passed wouldn’t the person be digested and pooped out? How can you be sure either way?
@nelliesilvers1210
7 ай бұрын
Sharks have different digestive system shapes (many, like the Bull, have a U-shape stomach with spiralled valves) and can take different amounts of time. Some take 4 days to completely empty their stomach. Their stomach acids take longer to break their food down because they don't chew their food and usually swallow it whole or in big chunks. I LOATHE having sharks killed because somebody gets attacked. I'm an Aussie from WA and have had them very close whether I knew it at the time or not (have accidentally kicked a tiger shark that had been under me in the Swan River) and my family and friends know I wouldn't want retaliation over being attacked by a shark, croc or any other predatory animal. I put myself in their territory so why should they suffer for doing what comes naturally? Besides...like you said, they don't know if the shark they killed was the "culprit". The shark (or croc, dingo etc) they just killed probably never hurt anyone in its life. We're a shit species with a fucked up way of thinking imo. Edit - many sharks (tiger for ex) can turn their guts inside out and have it eject from their mouths to wash out shells and other undigested foods then they suck the gut sack back in. It's a weird sight to see. I got upset first time I saw it on a documentary...thought it was dying. Nope. Just cleaning out its gut before sucking it back in like chewing gum after blowing a bubble😂.

You have to wonder if some of the victims were deliberately pushed overboard in waters known to have a large shark population.

Killing a shark after an attack is such bullshit, were the ones going into there home and it was just being a shark and thought he was a seal. I have surfed my whole life and tell family that if that ever happened to me, dont kill the shark!!! Shit pisses me off

You're a guest in all of sea's lives. I've been far from the shore to have one under me, i was floating on the water. I turned up right, with the least amount movement. Lifeguard on a jet ski got me. I never let it stop me. But as one put a long list of do not, I agree. I grew up with the ocean and learned what he said.

I wonder where they come up with those rare estimations for shark attacks. How are they counting the population and so forth. I think shark attacks are a lot more common than we would like to think (for people in the water), and they also often act like the shark did not know any better...I find that hard to believe too. They say, oh, the shark thought you were prey. Yes, that is right, the shark did think I was prey, human prey. They're not dumb as rocks. They know.

So glad that I didn't see Stanley's corpse😔 And the actor grasped the edge of the fisherman's deck..this was so much better than actually having to wonder about it.👍 regarding the portrayal bcz sometimes this is an issue that becomes irrelevant.and victims loved ones..must deal with it..some are disrespectful of the ones left to suffer the loss especially if it comes to a criminal act...here in their natural habitat they've become victims of sport fishing 🎣..and that's almost criminal when they don't even consume the shark fin "sharkfin stew". we must respect the fact that it's only in their nature to attack a thing that's in many ways similar to the movement of an injured seal..to them that's a lucky meal.. just so horrific those that become a snack for a huge 🦈.hate to think that they are aware of being eaten alive.. Alligators drown their prey before eating and they also tend to wedge their catch under logs and eat a little At a time.

Soooo, it doesn't matter the location of the river or lake? I've swam in MANY lakes and rivers up here in Maine, and my biggest fear is a snapping turtle biting my damn toe off, but I've never thought about a large predatory fish. I digress though, the first and only fatal shark attack recorded in Maine just happened in 2020, in a river of all places, by a GREAT WHITE. She jumped in to save her poor daughter, succeeded, and ended up being the victim instead 😢 It's a very sad story, especially for the geographic location. A great white in the area isn't exactly rare, but a great white swimming upriver to feed was a very remarkable thing. It had never happened, nor had there ever been a fatality from a shark attack. The waters are getting warmer, the food supplies are dwindling, and this is the result.

The stories are okay but the re-enactments are terrible. The first story set in Australia shows the guy who escaped from the shark driving an American car with left-hand drive, Cars in Australia have right-hand drive steering wheels. The second scenes shown in the second clip are all over the place, one minute the survivors are in a rubber dingy and the next in a small yacht. I didn't watch any further If you are going to show depicts of facts with visual content, at least get the correct footage to show or show the same clip and not switch from one craft to another. Sorry guys but it's a NO from me.
