Made this to spec and really impressed. I was ripping for 20mm and it worked a dream. I really appreciate how appropriate the engineering is; no additional cuts, holes, or screws. Built in under an hour and put to work. Appreciative and subscribed.

Absolutely love this. Presuming the top of your wood is square you could make this with an extended foot to ensure a perfect 90. Also, it may be easier to just slot something the width you want to cut and tighten down there then worry about measuring. Easier, less fuss, more accurate. Either way I am absolutely inspired and will absolutely use a jig based on this to create the strips for a custom layup I hope to do soon. Thank you so much!!!

With foot, you mean like a leg down to the floor or sacrifical board? I try to find out some way to modify this jig so i can cut thin plates of 6cm thick basswood. Its hard to get uniform thickness of the stripes if the Wood is thicker than 2 mm. So im curious about your idea.
@jamesbarros950

@@l.j.h9999 no, sorry, I mean the foot of the saw, basically a wide zero clearance base which would ride on top of the offcut section of the wood, giving you greater reference area to ensure you are cutting square. This, of course, requires that you're cutting wood which itself is square, but after the first cut, it should be.

I found this very useful to cut strips for model work (1,5-2 cm thick wood, 3-4 mm strips) But when Trying to cut thin plates of thicker wood (5-6cm) its hard to get uniform thickness of the pieces. Maybe its possible to mod this jig to prevent the saw from tilting outwards even slight during the cuts.

I need to rip some 2" wide strips about 36" long and my table saw is down. I'll just make a 2" fence like yours and go to work. I'm making cutting boards for Christmas and I'm cutting maple and walnut strips.

If you have a sample of the thickness of you want, maybe you could place that between your fence and the blade to create the space. Then tighten down your bolts to secure the fence, and remove your sample. That way you reference the material and not the markings on the square.

The paralleled guide that comes with a saw is for parallel cuts wider than the saw’s base plate, unless you’re talking about something else?

@@WoodworkJourney You are right. In some cases, it's possible to add a piece of wood on the parallel guide, for cuts thinner than the saw base plate.

If I was building this jig, I'd remodel it so that the ply plate would be predominantly over the piece of wood to be sliced and two outriggers for an adjustable fence under them. I have both left and right handed circular saws (I didn't realise when I first brought my battery circular saw that Ryobi made them handed), so I can use the most appropriate one for the application.

Too much risk for a few thin strips of wood!! You are not steady on your feet (as you know) where is your big red cutoff button? Restraining the saw safety shield is bordering on stupid for you - even for ripped, fit and fast reacting person!! Look at your workshop is it a place to take risks??!! I am also ill and suffer as you do so I know the issue, I went numb when you did this! It’s not fair to put ‘us’ thru such a video, I am so very very annoyed with you.
