I am only midway through the video, but I believe it is important to note, when you do what you love, it is much easier to put in the long hours and go the extra mile. Go hard with anything and everything that you do, yes, but when it's your passion, the going hard hits your spirit different. When you are putting in long hours for a business or company, where the work is outside the scope of what you love, the tasks and long hours become tiring and draining. If this is you, have a plan to transition and do not forget your end game, your goal! Although K looks tired (no shade), she is loving every minute of it, good or bad. xoxo

Hi Karin! Caught up on this weeks upload and I could not agree more with what you shared. 'Hard Work Pays Off' 'Not enough examples of people that work hard, have a good work ethic,are honest, transparent and genuine' You are certainly a shining example of this, I have always loved how 'real' you and your content is. You show what really goes on behind the scenes of achieving your goals, whether it be lifestyle, personal growth, career or business. In this day and age where the power of influence has never been greater or more widely exposed we need more public examples or at least more publicity on people like yourself. This would also show people that hard work although challenging is also fun and enjoyable too! I love your perspective on how the work of HOB impacts the client and their respective clients/customers/user and that they are getting there ROI. #Bohnafide - I adore the way you have designed the space and all the beautiful finishes :-)
@AniMerci

It’s been my experience that designers create for the visual impact, but not for the functionality. Unless designing for themselves. I’ve felt this in homes and in offices. My first thought is that the designer had no idea what the space function is. Just my observation.

Crazy! and after seeing this being said in the video, I was IN! Completely SUBSCRIBED to #KarinBohn videos and design ideas... Pick something "unusual", "old" or "ugly" and turn it into that "aha" or "wow" reaction, and you have ART, CREATIVITY and INSPIRATION working to their fullest! - the same goes with clothes ;) get wild!

Hi Karin, I am a student in Omaha, Nebraska and I am graduating with an Interior Design degree in just 10 short days. I have watched your videos throughout my entire education at my college, and every video you have released has put a smile on my face. You make me realize that all the hard work is worth it, and that I have endless potential. Just your attitude and motivation towards design alone inspired so many of my projects throughout school. And absorbing your videos on a daily basis makes me realize just how important the business side of Interior Design is. Thank you for all that you do, for putting an effort into posting this videos on a weekly basis. You truly are inspiring lives, and you and your team are amazing people and such talented designers. Hi Karin! First I must say my English does not well,but I will try writing best as I can. I have been following you and watching your video for a while and I’m feel my skills so far from you,You’re so great and hardworking. I’ve gotten heritage from my dad is a old house 🏠. I’ve been renovating his house for 2 years I’ve keep my money for house renovate. Afterwards I became love design the house. I’ve learned the basic bilding house from situation by every day. I donot think about the details before the build start, almost everytime was mistake. Afterwards I wanna be à good architect and I did apply to the architect college But I got a mail that I ’m placed on the waiting list to the program. I feeling why so hard to get something even I love to do or be. Life so unfair. I hope I can learn architect from You when I watching your youtube. Thanks

Love what you are doing! Just out of curiosity: you were presenting material selection to the client in this episode, do you guys usually present them this way, I mean just showing material pieces but not 3D renderings? Are clients able to visualise it well? Or your are presenting 3D visualisation at the final meeting? Asking , because I’m a graduating student of Interior Decorating program, and want to know more about real design processes . Thank you !

Don't forget, no matter how much knowledge and experience you have. You also need to have great taste! Interior design is very subjective. There are many designers who have all the qualifications but don't have good taste. I believe good taste is 80% of who are you are and 20% of what you learn and experience with time.

I’m a phase in my life where I want so desperately to open up my own interiors firm but I’m so scared because I question my talent my experience my intuition I understand the reality and difficulty in owning a business and the statistics offered in regards to small businesses and their high failure rates but regardless I still go back to that idea of OWN YOUR OWN FIRM, and in thinking about it again this mornjng and reviewing how dissatisfied I am with where I work , that quote couldn’t have been a better message to hear ! Yes work is a work. And sometimes a hard work. I think you emphasize the “hard work” as if it’s so difficult and most of the time you are struggling to stay in the business. No one should try to be an entrepreneur and still count the hours he put in to the work. The task of running a working successful full time business is complicated and not all are cut for it. Yet, as an entrepreneur I can say that many years ago I stopped to count the hours i work, and is it hard day or not. Having a business is a total thing and people how don’t get it and don’t want to sleep and eat and breath it, should not choose this path. I wish to hear from you much more encouragement not around the days or weeks of work but about all the growth as a person, worker, boss, woman and entrepreneur the you gain just because you walk the path of the hardest way to achieve fulfillment as an individual with dreams and aspirations. Be proud working 12 hours in your dream job. And let the rest of us be proud to be a part of an entrepreneur community.

It is very rare an interior designer's style translates so beautifully into their home. (You know...where it's not so precious or pretentious.) I loved everything about Karin's home decor. The map in the dinning area was everything! I don't know what's going on in Canada, but I tend to lean towards the interior design of Canadians than I do decorators in the states.
