You get a lot of accessories when you buy this trainer. I think a built in cadence sensor would have been a better option. The handle to carry it around is very usefull. My wahoo kickr core doesn't have that. One thing that I have experienced myself is that not all trainers are accurate for power data. My wahoo kickr core is very accurate. Same watts as my power meter. Titans grove has amazing rolling hills that really test your trainers ability to switch gradients fast. With some flaws in mind, it is still much better than your wheel-on trainer. Keep up the good work and amazing content Jared

They actually give you a choice between a free cadence sensor or a free heart rate sensor. But that was a special promotion so I'm not sure if that would be included if you bought it from abroad. It says +-2%, but I'm not sure how true that is, I'll get some power pedals one day and compare it to that. Thanks for watching! Glad you like the content! 😁

Great video man! Do you think it can handle multiple 3' intervals @ +360w? Or maybe 20' @ +340w? I had a trainer in the past that was not able to keep these intensity, no matter the cadence. Thanks
@JMower

When I first bought it it could handle those sorts of intervals fine. I’ve done loads of sprinting intervals with like 600/700w and it holds up. However it’s been about 2 years since I bought it and now it struggles with low cadence high watt intervals. For example 300w at 60rpm it won’t manage well

Thank you so much for your reply. It's quite interesting (and disappointing) that the trainer lost it's ability keep resistance on high intensity intervals... Maybe something related to belt tension?

Hi, I see you used to use a mountain bike for Zwift. Is there much difference using a mountain bike, road bike or gravel bike on the trainer? I’m after either a hard tail mountain bike or gravel bike but would like to race on zwift but would this put me at a massive disadvantage? Does the gearing matter much? Nice chill channel, new subscriber 👍

Hey man, sorry for the late reply, it's getting hotter here so haven't been on zwift for a while. I tested it and it's fine, you might have a disadvantage if you're sprinting due to the low gear, but for normal racing it should be okay. I got to about 700/800 watts so unless you have a massive sprint it should be ok

@@JMower real appreciated you taking the time to do that pal 👍. Good to hear. I am torn between mountain hard tail and a gravel bike. I’m edging towards mountain so I can access more areas so nice to hear it can still be used ok on Zwift. I may just buy a real cheap roady for Zwift if can afford both. Thanks again 👍

Hey, nice review. How do you activate the vibration on the trainer? Sample when you cross cobble area or gravel road on zwift, do you feel the vibration?

Hey mate, this trainer doesn't have any vibration function. I believe the garmin neo is the only trainer that does that.

@JMower

Hey mate, the trainer has a cadence sensor built in, but it isn't very good, sometimes it measures about half the real number. So I would recommend getting a separate cadence sensor instead

It’s been ok so far, a few issues with low cadence during erg mode workouts but apart from that it’s held up ok. Personally I would probably spend the bit extra for the zwift hub just for the peace of mind of having a proper warranty etc

Hi I have been looking to buy the x7 but I have also seen that these machines have problems after a while. How is yours? Have you known anyone having problems ?
@JMower
10 ай бұрын
Hey, 1.5 years in and it's working ok. I have some problems in ERG mode. When I do high power intervals (around 300w) at low cadence (50rpm) it struggles to provide enough resistance. However everything else is fine. I only bought this one because it was a lot cheaper than the other brands because I live in China (all the others have import duty etc). If you live in a western country I would recommend just getting a zwift hub or wahoo kickr, at least then there'll be less hassle if something does go wrong

I would be careful with buying second hand, it could break the next day and there's nothing you can really do about it. Although from what I've read online about wahoo kickr it should be a solid unit if it's still working correctly

@@JMower thanks for your reply, appreciate it. I have purchased a Thinkrider X7 and have paired it to TrainerRoad for structured Workouts. I cannot get the trainer to operate in Erg mode. I have to change gears to get desired power wattage. So I'm thinking the trainer is operating as a power meter, not as a smart trainer...any ideas???
