I started using this approach as well, with the following aspects: - I still try to make the "cubes" nice and walkable inside rather than a encapsulated mess. - I limit them for processing at-a-site such as refining caterium to ingots for transport - I still use blueprints to create larger factories (non-cubes) - I wouldn't replace everything with cubes. BTW - I like your trademark rainbow and the overall cube design - very nice.
@Yakez42

You can check out my other creations on this channel, there are plenty of variety and non cube factory prints. There is one interesting hack for creation of walkable factory blueprints btw. You can place blueprint inside blueprint designer and shift it to the side. This way you can extend exterior of blueprint beyond 4x4 if no build pieces overlap edge of blueprint designer. There are some limitation to this technique, but still this can work wonders for walkable factories.

What I like about modular designs, you can leave your early-stage factories up and running. I build similar, but i like to have space to walk around and oversee the whole production. Even if i know that when you play several 100h something like 1-10 items/min is more then enough i usually scale up everything to a full miner. Once i reach a new tier i can usually double the production.

These factories are simply beautiful. Shape, colors & decoration, layout, all just incredibly impressive. I'm going to play with these just t try to wrap my brain around what you've accomplished here. Watching some of the players who've played for thousands of hours and produced clean, streamlined, decorated factories like this makes me want to get better, but also is incredibly daunting. I can build functional factories, and keep them relatively organized, but the planning necessary to build something this elegant is next level. Maybe I'll refine my skills that much someday, but it's going to be a while. Liked and subscribed. Looking forward to more of your work.

This is very informative. Have you tried this with the later alt's that can eliminate screws altogether? I've just gotten to start unlocking fuel production and so far I've managed to nab the alts to take screws out of the works. Only thing so far that needs screws is the shop. I def have to start using signs like you show, I had to take a break from the game for a bit due to moving and came back and was all.. 'what is this making again?' lol

In either case you need to produce Reinforced Iron Plate for a lot of things in Satisfactory. Bolted Iron Frame is great since it is 15 / min per assembler. Screwless alts just have low production rate and this is crucial when you are working with such a tight space as blueprint factory.

I like the idea of the modular factories. How did you figure out that 45 Reinforced Iron Plates work well with other components? Personally I do not like using screws in my factory, so I usually use the stitched Iron plate recipe with iron wire. My modular factory for RIP using Stitched Iron Plates can only do 22.5 per module with a power consumption of 101 MW. So I need 2 factories to match yours with for 202 MW. My materials are only 196 x 2 = 392 Iron Ingots. I did the math for a 45 RIP using the Bolted recipe, and power should be about 133 MW, and materials need 453 Iron Ingots and 48 coal. Power and footprint are better with Bolted, but materials are much higher. IMO, I would rather save the coal and Iron for a little more power.
@JasonMerk
Жыл бұрын
Watching your video again. I realized that I thought your 45 RIP was one module, but it is two. Additionally, you are using the copper Alloy recipe. IMHO, you might want to rethink the efficiency of this setup.
@Yakez42
Жыл бұрын
Space. Difference between Bolted and Stitched Plate is that it is less machines. Assemblers in particular. It was critical for this design. I was not aware how to fit more than 3 assemblers or 8 constructors per floor at a time. Then if you are going for iron wire you will need 7 smelters, 4 assemblers and 13 constructors per blueprint to match 22.5 RIP. I can see pulling this off 100% now, after I have designed like 30+ blueprints. But not when I was making this blueprint, it seemed impossible. It was pretty much second iteration of the first blueprint factory design ever. But nevertheless good points and I totally see myself doing RIP differently next time!

I have not even started with clipping xD. These blueprints have no hard clipping and not very tight. Like 8 constructors or 3 assemblers + 3 constructors per level. You can totally jam 12 constructors or 6 assemblers per level with only soft clipping! Just need to be a bit 3 dimensional with manifolds.

Road barriers. They are perfect alignment tool for angles. There would be obvious overlap. Another tip if you want to use something other than concrete with overlapping angle walls is to use 1m walls stacked over 4m walls. This way steel and normal walls have no pattern to z-fight.

are iron and copper alloy recipes better than the Pure recipes?
@Yakez42
Жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Pure recipe only useful if you smelt FULL map AND have huge nuclear setup up and running. Before this point alloys are always better. Pure ingots uses way more energy, it require water, witch can be pain on its own and it uses way more machines. Also FPS issue pretty much stopped me ever using full map worth of pure recipes ever, and I have decent rig. Pure recipe for quartz is great due to very limited nature of quartz, sometimes pure caterium can be nice. Everything else is good on paper but absolutely unwieldy in the game.
@KaliFortuna

I see niche uses if you’re like me and hate transporting resources around the map. Sometimes I need more copper but only have 1 nearby node to mine, so either transport more in, move whole factory, or use pure or water recipes to get more copper on site.

Hey Yakez, I was wandering about your decision of input materials. What was your thaught process of making the input as ore instead of ingots? The only downside I see is that you make another blueprint for refining ore to ingots, but after that everything can accept ingots and you have more room in the blueprint if needed. Did you have other considerations for it? Thanks.
@Yakez42
11 ай бұрын
It is just two different ways of doing things. There is no real benefit to either way in most cases. Also if you make separate ingot production it is better to go with more efficient Stitched Iron Plates over Bolted Plates. Bolted Plates are good for its compactness and ability to fit them with smelters onboard making 1 blueprint over 2.
@K7Peter
11 ай бұрын
@@Yakez42 Amazing, thank you for the reply! Yes I was looking at creating a new production for Iron Plates and realized that using ingots, its better to use the Stitched instead of the Bolted. Just extra blueprint for ingots, but then it can be reused for multiple builds. Ill go test it out 👍
