Just went on a hunting trip around Amarillo TX and on the way we passed a few gleaner combines that looked like they were retired sitting on side the road and you were the first person I thought of I said I bet he could use some parts off of them 😂😂

so nice to see a good yield for you this year. funny seeing you driving “the green beast” over the Gleaners , good luck getting them rebuilt! when everything is in proper order it makes such a difference!

My Dad and I both started out with AC tractors and both ended up with JD's. I loved your Gleaner videos but I think I can live with the JD combine videos and enjoy them just as much.

Interesting about the adding sand v installing tile. Got to admit I do enjoy watching tile being installed though.

I used to run a claas combine in rice that had tabs welded to the cross auger and we cut them off to prevent the wet rice from wrapping around it. Probably worth a shot to prevent ears being thrown since you ain’t using the rubber flaps anyways

I noticed the auger has a wobble in it. Maybe that is causing ears to jump out.

The next series of corn head, 600 series, Deere made the cross auger bigger diameter and much slower turning. Throws very few ears. I think there is aftermarket sprockets for your corn head to slow the cross auger down.

Love your videos. Just a question how many acres do you farm? It seems endless. Especially for a guy from New England. ✌️

Brandon the road beside one of are farms , no body lives on. The township does not do much to it. When it rains the 4 wheel drives make a mess out of it. My mother called that road the cow path.

by chance did you try slowing down the head speed to stop the ear throwing

Your in an area like I always dreamed of. I never could get very many acres to farm. We're in the hills close to a big metro area, and I just never could get ahead, too many big money city business backed guys wanting a write off competing for the small acreages here. The land cost is too high to buy and the rents are too high for the yields . Some of these clowns are willing to rent ground for less than $20 bucks average profit margin! Heck, their barely making a minimum wage for their time in their operation! The extreme heat and hilly terrain don't allow big yields. As for the header throwing out ears, thats common on Deere. As I recall, they have a variable speed feeder and for fast ground speed, you run the header fast, The faster you run it the farther the ears fly, thats why the shield is there. We had severe heat and dry summer with a late start so our yields for the past few years in the high ground have been lame, so not much fun here.

With 2000 acres to do you need reliable equipment and something 40 years old isn’t reliable enough.

Glad the new combine is working great for you guys it’s just what you needed now you need more acreage to justify getting a bigger combine lol 😂 thanks for sharing
