I did my university thesis on telomere longevity, aging and nutrition. Telomeres are at the end of DNA cells, they are protective to our cells. Over time they lose their protective capacity, and our cells can no longer replicate which causes aging. Certain things can accelerate or decelerate the process of wear and tear (but it will still happen, because hello time exists). For example, Having an excess amount of fat in the body produces chemicals that accelerate the wear and tear of telomeres. So if you were to reduce the amount of overall fat , ofcourse your cells will benefit. And if you were to have a diet that is especially varied with fruits and vegetables, the antioxidants can protect those telomeres for longer - reduce wear and tear. My thesis concluded that nutrition, good nutrition can help slow down this process, and yes good nutrition does efffect hormone production that has an influence on telomere longevity but the nutrition has to be holistic. You can’t focus on increasing specific hormones, because your body needs other nutrients in combination for a significant influence on hormone production or mechanism. Sigh. Sometimes I just get so tired seeing all this BS. But I’m glad it’s being talked about, it is literally the only way people will realise these fitness influencers are bags of shitt.

The next thing I did was type the name of the hormone into google scholar. Could tell from the titles of the studies alone that this hormone hadn't been proven to do anything and that the scientific community is critical of it. Not much effort on my part to debunk this. Clearly an unpopular opinion but I am really happy that I joined her program about a year ago. Personally I am not one to fall for her beauty or the pitures of other peoples "before and after" because i know that our lives differ from each other. I honestly just needed a strict plan with daily exercise which I got from her app. I lost the weight I wanted since she actually got me moving. Maybe I could have gotten it cheaper or for free somewhere else and maybe her facts is incorrect but looking back at it I would have payed double the price to be as happy with my body as I am today. However I wouldn't pay for the facts about some silly hormone or what not and I don't belive that her "special work outs" actually do what she says scientifically. But once again, they got me moving. I don't really see how her program is an issue if it gets people off their butts and making them happy. Sure, most of it is bullshit and her first video about her program is mainly "Buy this and you'll find out.... If you do this I'll tell you what happens." This got me crossed and I didn't fall for it. But when I talked to a friend who got it and she showed me the app my mind changed. Which I am happy about.

I see this ad on my instagram and facebook feed every single day and when I was just getting into fitness, I swear I was almost tempted by it because I was so frustrated that I wasn't getting results. But then I found some honest, genuine, reliable influencers like you and Natacha, and just kept up my diet and exercise and I've seen slow and gradual progress. I'm glad I did not fall for that ad in a moment of weakness. Now every time I see it I just roll my eyes and keep scrolling.

Way to put the fraud on blast with class! It’s ridiculous what some of these fitness influencers are saying! They prey on people new to fitness which will eventually turn them off to fitness. Shouldn’t our goal be to help people fall in love with exercise?

So no one is going to mention how brown adipose tissue is only found in infants? Adults generally don't have it. A couple years ago miniscule amounts of brown adipose tissue have been found but its nowhere near enough to be the "calory burner" this lady is talking about. Also telomeres are some noncoding "tails" of DNA. There is a reason that the telomere tail get shorter from cells dividing (my pathophys Prof says that a cell can divide 50 times before the telomere is depleted) is to avoid cancer. Imagine a cell infinitely growing because the growth regulation is fucked. Cancer cells are so prolific because they have telomerase that "grow" the tails. Someone please confiscate that woman's WiFi router

It's not actually only found in infants, it's in adults, I did my entire masters on brown adipose tissue activation. People have varying amounts, but it's present in depots in adults. It's not as drastric of an amount at infants, but it's generally recognized that there can be relatively large amounts in adults

I fell for this an bought it a few weeks ago without doing any research whatsoever. As soon as you have it, they ignore everything that was said in that promotionvideo and just offer the workout videos. You can buy a mealplan as an extra, but there is no mention ever again of hormones or your metabolic type. Everyone gets the same workout videos. I actually like the workouts and the structure given in the 90 day program even though those have very little in common with what was advertised in that video/quiz...

the latest trend is this focus on hormones and metabolic type, body type, etc, they talk about everything else but being in a caloric deficit which is the real way to lose the fat. You cant break the laws of thermodynamics! Basically, just eat in a caloric deficit and find an activity or sport you like and go out and do it and you will lose fat.

OMG I'm so ready for this video. I used to watch her workout videos and was BAFFLED by her claim that she got better results with home workouts than the gym. It's so bizzare that I actually googled if she had some work done 😅 (like bbl or something. pretty sure her breasts have implants but that's irrelevant to fitness). In just 3 months of going to the gym (weight training) I got better results than after nearly a year of following her workouts. I'm pretty sure her insistence on home workouts being the best is just an attempt to make people keep watching her videos.
