Diru was the band that introduced me to prog/metal. Each member is so intricate on their own, let alone together!

I always say that in my Diru videos! They all on their own journey every song.

They remade this song in 2013 and added 6 minutes to it (16 minutes 20 seconds length). Keep the Diru vids coming man :D

I have to say I love the 2000 version and this staging is one of my absolute favorites. The usage of the forth wall and layered projections fits the song so well :) But yes, the 2013 16 minute version is fantastic and worth to look up as well next time you want to listen to this! But just to mention it, this version already uses some of the updated instrumentals. It's more of an amalgamation of the original and the rerecorded version that excludes everything that's been added later and goes without changing instruments etc. In both versions this song just holds you on the edge which is the exact right feeling to produce for the lyrics I think. It never really explodes although the extended version has a part that breaks out of the main theme, but instead keeps you in suspense. They just know how to make music that does something to your body and mind. If you have problems describing what they do I think that's the best compliment. I have to look up the song you mentioned there now :) Thank you and have a good day!

I will do the newer version at some point, this one seemed to be the "official" version. for lack of a better word. just based on popularity.

You'll notice it anyway, but yes, Japanese bands have a lot of love for the bass. Best bass lines you'll ever hear. Versailles is a great band for that, bass follows vocals, does root, and does counterpoint, plus amazing leads. Masquerade is a good start, but for beautiful, almost prog, Faith and Decision. There's a couple of lives out there, both are great. 2012 is closest to the studio version, but the later one at Budokan has a ton of extra emotion. As fir Macabre, doing the 2013 Tabula Rasa is well worth it, because Dir en grey don't play songs much the same twice. It's almost a totally different experience. Also someone else mentioned Nazare. I second this. Incredible band, very Diru influenced, but also different.

Somehow I haven't seen this particular live version, but it's great as well. I know that 2013 version was probably recommended a lot, and I agree, but Kyo (vocalist) was actually pretty sick during the famous 2013 performance (I mean, literally, he checked himself out of hospital), but definitely worth checking it out! Great reaction of course, I very much enjoy your dir en grey journey. It's a very special band for me, and I'm going to see them live again after over 10 years in 3 months!

I would say that this is highly conceptual. I love how they apply classical music structure with a main theme and it’s variations throughout the piece. DeG’s music is live a living creature that evolves throughout the performance. Can never stop loving it. It takes a lot of re-runs and attention to get the nuances of the music and lyrics but that’s what makes it so special - DeG make you think
