Living with parents doesn't always mean being dependent on them. It also means sharing your happiness and sadness with them. Being with them during their second childhood. The family stays as family. And that's why we do it in India. Not because it's expensive. Make a visit sometime to understand how we actually live together, bearing the expenses together.

I see Indians claiming "family values" and "taking care of parents" in comment sections. However, I almost never see Indians actually living with parents at all. They typically buy apartments/homes and stay with their wives. Frequently the wife's parents (particularly the widowed mother) is living with them but not the husbands parents.

@@gamesong6600 For most Asians, its not a lack of social skills, its due to racial bias of Americans. This is absolute Rubbish. It all depends on a person. Generally in India 95 percent people marry in their own caste. Thus know all the background of the concerned people. Morality is a must and most Indians are virgins before marriage. Note India is a rural country and decadence to a limited extend is only found in large cities. If in a village a women dates let alone sex the consequences can be unfortunate. If a descent virgin Indian married a virgin Western girl problems could be minimum. But some Indians due to color (this is prevalent to great degree in Punjab, etc. in some castes) married a Western lady for being light-skinned only such a marriage has no basis. Many Indians have marred sexually experienced western ladies ladies thus these later want to go in for further partners. However, if the Western lady is pious more often the marriages last. Racialism is not a criterion since many Indians are also Aryans. In fact Aryans from Northwestern Indian subcontinent (due to a specific) climate are lighter than many Europeans. I was posted in Kashmir Valley see this normal pious Kashmiri Aryan lady: kzitem.info/news/bejne/xoqZtquhhpWoomU
