I have always loved tofu and cook with it often. I don’t really understand the hate that surrounds it; it’s just soybeans ffs. It has a delicate flavor, but it also absorbs whatever seasoning you add to it and becomes whatever you want to it be. If you don’t like soybeans or have a soy allergy, you can make tofu from other ingredients. I’ve made my own tofu from chickpeas, which is common in Burmese cuisine, and red lentils. I like them all.

I use a potato masher for tofu. I use one that has parallel metal lines, not one with small holes. It works far better than a cheese grater.

Mango salsa is the best. I add some chopped red onion and jalapeno pepper to taste. This recipe works with pineapple, too. Amazing with grilled seitan chicken in a tortilla.

Love this recipe; this is how I make cutlets, bacon, and ground! I cut my tofu into the shape that I want, add it to a pan with seasoning and then boil everything until the water evaporates. Afterwards, I bake it in the oven at 450 until the white parts are mostly gone and then pack it in the fridge/freezer. Me and my kids love it!

These look nice, especially all those flavours combined, might try it with soya mince! We often use the tofu in Korean food. This recently worked for me: tempeh "salmon" ~ I cut my tempeh block in half and cut deep grooves in, made a marinade with kombu stock (boiling some kombu in like a cup of water), wholegrain mustard, syrup, dill, smoked salt, lemon and odourless coconut oil. Fried until brown and basted them in the marinade, getting it in the grooves. Served over cooked spinach. It's not imitation fish as such but really tasty. My wife loved it but lamented there wasnt more.

I never liked those fake kinds of sour cream. They just didn't taste right at all. Instead of bogus "cashew cream" made with citrus or vinegar, just buy some Lactobacillus acidophilus capsules that are widely available online and keep them in your refer. Soften the cashews and blend, then add the acidophilus. After inoculating, keep it sealed in the refer. Do this 4-5 days in advance and you will be surprised. One or two capsules at the most will turn the cashew cream into sour cashew cream, depending on how much you are making. There is no better vegan substitute for sour cream than this version. Try it, you'll like it, that is if you liked sour cream in the first place.

I have used lactic acid on my channel for years. I just buy bulk powdered acid instead of the capsules. I use it on a regular basis and it comes out phenomenal. I tend to vary on when I use it but for recipes that are typically whole foods I try to stay with ingredients that can commonly be found. When im making something that im trying to nail the flavor regardless of ingredients is when I jump to my drawer of fun chemicals.
@RustyMadd
Ай бұрын
@@SauceStache As I'm sure you know, Lactobacillus isn't a chemical, it's a living organism, a bacterium. As such it is a whole food. Just sayin' FWIW, I've stayed away from your chemical concoctions. You focus far too much on trying to emulate meat. I don't need meat nor realistic substitutes. I left that behind 11 years ago and never looked back. There are plenty of other colors in the crayon box than meat red. ;-)

It has estrogen. You'll start to take on feminine behaviors and become weak mentally and physically over time. It's like kryptonite to men. Everything in moderation. But when you factor in all the things we're exposed to these days that have estrogen like compounds, and you start eating this everyday, it's not good.
