What was your favourite shot we created with the Pro2be in this video? 🤔

I think the shots where you rotate it from the coffee cup to the subject, think that looks really cool

It is weird that they aren't selling a kit with one rear group and three probes lenses. Or even just selling the three probe lens groups separately. That was my original assumption on how they would sell the kit rather than as three full lens sets.
@CVPTV
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I originally wrote the script presuming this was how they would do it too. It's a shame that they don't offer a bundle as such at a lower price for people who are happy to swap the rear group. Jake

I agree. The price point for all three of them puts this out of reach for someone wanting to take a chance on them and/or play with them on a spec commercial basis. I think this moves them to the rental house more than the individual.
@philldixon8001

I think a toolless changeover and selling a set of 3 with one rear module makes much more sense. You could buy a second separate rear for another mount type and do fast switching if needed as well. Agree the lack of clutch lens rotation from the Periprobe is an oversight. The waterproof line is also welcome - had someone hand me back a wreck after going too deep in a river. A great job that hopefully gets a few tweaks to be perfect

Fantastic comparison as always. When you compare the quality between lenses I wish that you would zoom in and show them at the screen together. So you show for example a grid of 4 at the same time. This makes it much easier compare. I did this myself by just taking screens from yours and putting them next to each other. We currently have the previous periprobe and it is fantastic but plan on upgrading to using EF mount. I like that you can switch to PL mount easily. It feels like EF is dying and RF cannot quite replace it with Canon not letting others develop for it so we may have to move over to PL mount at a point. Sadly there are so many interesting still lenses that I would like to use while filming and the PL mounts can be so expensive. I'm looking at you Zeiss Supreme lenses.

Would be great to test v1 probe vs periprobe vs pro2. The pro2 is so much bigger and longer than it will be more difficult to use it, and more shaky when used on motion control. For me the best one is still the v1 probe.

Laowa keeps innovating with these speciality lenses. WOW! Totally random question. But, I'm Curious why you guys are using a PortKeys on your Raptor and not the RED/SmallHD control? I'm planning to rent a Raptor for some projects at the end of the month. I have a pair of BM5s but were thinking maybe two small for 8K...

I love to browse your website. Especially the demo/used section aince you see bery unique lenses that aren't ever showing up to my consumer eyes. Like those century optics modular periscope system. Via my intrest for thermal cameras, I came across some of the camera/lens constructions by Martin Dohrn and they had all kinds of macro kit to film ants with a motion control rig. I do enjoy seeing all this specialized tools shown to a more broader audience, since the idea of crafting something unique in a studio or capturing wildlife from a perspective inaccessible to human eyes is the level of craftsmanship I like in filmmaking. Will this product open it up for a broader userbase? I honestly doubt it. I have the 6mm cine from laowa and really dislike the lens cap too. It isnt screwed, grabbed or magnetic. Just some felt on the side. It slips out way to easily. So you cant really keep the lens in your pocket or loosely in a bag (which I usually do). It does come with a nice pelican case tho.

2 steps forward, 1 back. Reckon there's any way to fit one after market? I'd consider paying to machine something if there was space/the design allowed for something to fit on it. Then I suspect the Prob3 (?) will be back to geared rotation... sigh.@@CVPTV

These are mind expanding and interesting, I can see why you need so much light. With the foothold GoPro have on the industry, I'd be surprised if they don't one day branch into that genre, too. GoPro cameras are dominating some segments of KZitem presently but their close focus ability is poor. I wonder how hard it would be to tweak their lenses to offer close focus up tight.

The lens was sent for us to test but we decide whether to review something or not on this channel. We give brands feedback about kit all the time and are upfront and honest in our videos. The products we sell aren’t toys, they are professional tools for people to use for their business or create art and we pride ourselves on educating people/customers the pros and cons each product has, so they can make the most informed rental or purchased decision. May be worth trying to rent one locally so you can evaluate the lens yourself before forking out the cash for one. Let me know if you have any questions, Jake
