I would just like to mention a small thing, while the x56 looks better and has more metal (looks more premium) its actually quite worse for the money, I absolutely recommend looking into more reviews rather than taking this exact advice as the x56 still has lots of issues... idk everything who owned both says the t16000m is a much better option than the x56 lol

I’m pretty frustrated with Thrustmaster. Just had my third T16000M joystick fail for the same reason within a couple months after the warranty expires. They all failed for the same reason. The twist or yaw axis failed. My most recent one failed at about the 15 month pint after purchase. The other two about the same. I’d like to know if this one or any others lasted longer. If you do a search you will find this is a common problem with all their joysticks that twist for yaw. It really is a shame because up to the point they all failed, they were awesome. Probably the best out there. You might wonder why I bought a third after two failed. Honestly I was hoping to get a fluke yin’s that might last longer I didn’t, I only use my joystick for flight sims and a. A light to moderate user. I waited 45 minutes yesterday to talk to their tech support. They said there was noting they could do and not really interested in what I had to say. Once again up to the point they fail, they are awesome. There are several videos how to fix the problem. I’m going to try and fix the one that just failed but do not have high hopes. If you are considering anything Thrustmaster, buyer beware. It appears the T16000 is the same design packaged here with a throttle.

Way better alternative than the thrustmaster tca officer pack airbus edition .
100% agree with Blu! I absolutely love my T16000M -- for the price it is unbeatable and has been incredibly reliable for myself. I've had mine for probably about the same time as Blu and have had zero issues with it. I will agree with the sticky-ness of the throttle, however with a little maintenance using Nyogel 767A lubricant it works better than ever. I'll go as far to say I prefer it over my Thrustmaster Warthog, that sits quietly in the box in my closet. Probably will get some eye rolls but after learning and becoming comfortable with the T16000 it is extremely hard for me to transition to another setup. Regardless I know I'll be utilizing the T16000M until she decides to give up on me. Any new simmers; this is hands down the best bang for your buck you can get on the market.

You can fix the Rudder jitter by taking some Rubbing alcohol on a que-tip and dabbing it into the area. (make sure the USB is not connected) In my case, I would dab some of the alcohol then move the unit back and forth. Dabbing all around the paddle axis to get the sensor in there cleaned of debris. There is also a video on youtube to clean the twist issue that plagues the joystick. I was able to bring my malfunctioning throttle and joystick back to life after about 5 years of use.

Protip: If the throttle gets a bit sticky, you can apply WD40 to the base where the "slides" are (or whatever they are called, English is not my mother tongue, sorry). Did it about a year ago, mostly playing Elite: Dangerous and SW: Squadrons, about 400 hours played later it still works like a charm. I'd even recommend it right out of the factory. Just a little bit. And you can use the slides themselves to "work it in". Ah, yeah the twisting sensors on the flight stick have a habit of wearing off, it is a manufacturing thing, so it comes up sooner or later in all of them, so I do recommend to use the rudder bars on the throttle instead.

I've had mine for about 2 years. It doesn't get daily play. Maybe a few times a month. Casual flight sim here. After about 6 months I noticed the light on the joystick would be lit even when I wasn't using it. Then I started noticing my plane was drifting ever so slowly nose down. Had to learn about dead zones to fix that in game but the stick is still messed up. The throttle sticks exactly like the video says otherwise it's a great throttle. If you can afford something better I would recommend something else.

The throttle sticking before moving is potentially caused by the torque created between moving part and the base. This propably due to the stick being moved on a straight path rather then a circular path, causing a jam until you get from strong static friction (jam) to a much lower sliding friction (proper function). Long story short: while pushing the throttle up, could you try to create a small torque (pulling the finger side of the stick up, resp. pushing the palm side of the stick down)? It's for science :)

I had a T16000 FCS until the yaw sensor failed. It went back under warranty and I got the Warthog throttle and stick. I had the linear bearings mod on my throttle for removal of the sticktion. I LOVE the Warthog for DCS, but I'm seriously considering getting another T16000 FCS for Elite Dangerous -I think the setup is easier to handle. BTW, I have the replacement slew sensor in my Warthog, so it's like the T16000's.

I got the throttle ball-bearing mod off of Etsy, it's awesome. However, I have had the Stick for a couple years now and dealt with the twist sensor issue several times. I would take it apart, alcohol clean and oil it to get it to work again.

@@BluGames After just one session, I thought I give you my views so far. Well, 1 it is a lot better than the standard controller. I did find that you need very little movement of the joystick to make changes to the aircraft. I also noticed the exact same thing with the throttle, that it does stick in places as you try to increase speed, which on a Cesna was not too much of a problem. I am using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. I found that the rudders are not defaulted to the rudder controls on the throttle unit, but are on the joystick, using the twist function. The resistance on the joystick when climbing is about right. The various buttons is a nice touch, just trying to remember what does what is going to take time. There is though one issue, that you did bring up in your video. Yes, the joystick can be switched to left handed, but the throttle cannot. If you try and use the throttle in your right hand, it just feels so weird and awkward, especially as there are controls on the right side of the controller. I am right handed, but a lot of the planes the captain sits on the left and uses his/her left hand to steer and right to hand controls of the plane. This maybe a little moan on my part. I would say that in all honesty your review is spot on with this joystick throttle combination. I do like the fact that unlike yoke systems, this does not take up too much room on the desk. I hope this helps others to choose their controller.

I've been playing Star Citizen for 5 years now with mouse/keyboard and I'm looking to finally get a HOTAS. I keep hearing conflicting reviews of the T16000M and the X56. One person says the TM is better build quality. Another says the opposite. One says the buttons on the TM feel cheaper than the X56, and another says the opposite. Org mates keep saying just get a VKB Gladiator, but I don't think they do a HOTAS and I don't want dual sticks. Can you mis-match a VKB joystick with a TM throttle? Does that work? Or does it cause compatibility/setup issues? I'm holding off on making an impulsive purchase. I generally don't do a lot of combat flying. So I don't need something for elite pilots, so I'd rather not spend the money if I don't have to. If I could get some advice I'd appreciate it.

It's a great setup at its original retail price, but at the current markups? I'm pretty sure I'd go for a Gladiator NXT for a stick right now, since it's either the same price or cheaper(!) for higher quality. The "basic" TECS throttle VKB has coming out will probably beat out the TWCS at marked-up prices when it's available, for similar reasons. *IF* the prices on Thrustmaster gear ever come back down to earth -- i.e. $120 for the stick and throttle combo -- then I'd have no hesitation in recommending them again as the best entry-level options. I'm in the same situation as you regarding the T16000 stick twist, BTW. I've seen the reports of problems, but mine is still solid after years of use. The rudder paddle on my throttle did start twitching on me a little while ago, though. Technically, it's solvable with a deadzone, but I just got myself a set of rudders instead.

Gladiator NXT's is definitely the best bang for your buck. I started out with T16000's, then they broke so I bought new ones, then when they broke again, so I upgraded to CH products. Then when I decided to take my sticks more seriously I got VKB Gunfighter MK. 3's. If you want actual quality don't bother with thrustmaster toys, get VKB or virpil.

Problem with VKB is the cost of shipping (and maybe custom fees). As of today, there's a special on the whole T1.16000m set (3 pieces) for 250 $cdn. I can only get a VKB gladiator with basic grip for the same amouns of money when I factor in the shipping. I think shipping is much cheaper in Europe but not in NA.

Good and fair assessment! 👍 My 2cts.: Throttle has excellent usability, especially the analog stick and placement for index finger is just perfect. Biggest issue with the throttle is the sticky rail system though. 1. The mentioned Twist/Yaw axis issue is almost never an actual hardware problem. Every few months you just have to recalibrate the stick and its good to go again. A calibration tool can be found on Thrustmasters website. 2. Yes, the Throttle is not greased well right of the factory. Just get some Nyogel767a or any other damping grease and you will get perfect precision. 3. The Logitech X56 is absolute trash. Yes, it looks way better. But that's pretty much it. It has way too many issues to list here, but just watch some videos or do other research on it and you will understand. The Warthog has its drawbacks too and is not worth the money imo.

Just had the Z-axis or twist issue. Just at two years. Have the Throttle as well, but I'm hearing LOTS of issues with the twist on the FCS, and am looking for an alternative. Don't have room for a true rudder option, so I need the ability on the Stick. Was looking at a WinWing, but it doesn't have the twist. Thanks for your channel.

Playing Elite: Dangerous - horizons, using the setup with stick and throttle. Satisfied? Well, for the price - yes. The stick itself is ok, but I don't use the twist since I have rudder on it. Tried to bind it to look left/right. I'm currently trying to modify it. The buttons on the stick itself (except for the trigger) are of membrane type, will try and change them to micro switches. Also trying to change the trigger to an all mechanical switch (OFF/ON spring return). The throttle doesn't have any specific weight to it, compared to the stick. But you can always screw them to something (mounting holes under). I want either an VKB or Virpil setup..

Short answer: Yes and no. The Throttle is decent, but the stick absolutely has its lunch eaten by the VKB Gladiator NXT. Nothing out there can beat the GNX for price/performance right now. I hope that TM comes out with a worthy competitor.
@dou5689

It cost 300$ to get GNX here in Canada. 110 for T16000. Might as well go for Logitech X56 for 300$, but my impression of Logitech product was extremely bad. I want GNX purely because of its superior quality.

@@dou5689 the T16k has a better sensor than any of the logitech sticks, but I'm not a fan of the grip design. The Gladiator is superior to everything short of the Warthog. It's it worth 300.... Yeah I might pay that if I was in your shoes. I hope VKB improves their shipping to other countries.

@@FalconsLedge I switched to t16000m since 2009, I believe it's the first hall sensor joystick. The x56 use hall too so I don't think there is a noticable difference. My bad impression of logitech come from the potential meter joysticks I used before 2009, for none of them could lasts more than a year accuracy-wise. T16000M's accuracy actually outlasts its botton. but its gimbal design is too complicated and very difficult to maintain, the movement was also not smooth due to the poor gimbal design.the spring load was too strong making using trim a must. The building quality was poor, especially the grip and the Z axis' mechanical design. I need to switch to GNX asap and I also need a T300RS, but I'm running out of kidney to sell.

The pedals are junk, I never knew how bad they were until I got a set of VKB pedals. No comparison. I agree with your assessment of the throttle and stick, decent for the price, but way too many issues with the finger axis, rudder axis and twist axis due to low quality components that just don't last. I have heard about a lot of issues with the Warthog and Logitech setup that I would be very wary of them. I plan on going to VKB sticks and the Omni throttle soon.

Dude as a beginner would u recommend a stick or yoke? Is a stick and throttle all enoguh or I need a rudder?
@tommaxwell429
3 жыл бұрын
The 16000 is OK but not great. The price is too high for the quality of the product. As you noted the Z axis is trash and doesn't last. It is near impossible to us it effectively. The Joystick is trash as well. For both the rudder and the joystick you have to set such a large dead zone to keep your plane from going all over the place. This gives it a horrible feel and makes critical flying nearly impossible. I started with a Logic tech cheapo so yes this is an upgrade. I have recently ordered a Virpil stick and throttle. Yes they are expensive but in the long run not so much. You can pay $350 for this plastic crap and fight with it in a few months or pay $900 for a quality all metal product and enjoy flying rather than dinking around trying to make things work. Oh yeah, I will comment that Thrustmaster service is simply awful. I destroyed one of those cheaply mounted rubber switch cups while trying to fix my Z axis. I contacted Thrustmaster support asking to purchase one. They said they could only replace the joystick if it is under warranty, (Which it isn't) but they could not sell me a replacement part. Screw them! From what I understand even the high priced Warthog system is cheaply made with lots of plastic and people are paying $100 to replace the cheap joystick after paying $500 to buy the HOTAS. Don't waste your time on this low end crap. Pay your dues up front and get quality equipment. You'll enjoy it more and it will last a very long time. Always buy quality!
