Thank you for this! It was so helpful, and easy to do because you showed how to do it on oneself! 🙂 the pain relief and regained mobility were instant. 🎉

is there a reason why you round up the edges? Thank you for this video, as I had no one to help me, so this was great information.

I am a Physiotherapist, I came across you on LinkedIn and was really fascinated by your techniques. I did not know you can do some much for the hand. We know alot on what to do for large it's, when it comes to small jts I have always run out of options and think what more I can do. Your videos are very helpful. Looking for something for swollen trigger thumb

Thanks. The webcuts - thin strips will help with this - plus alignment of the joint will also help. Look at the thumb videos- CMC and try the rotational corrections

I love this method! Thankyou for your clear instructions. The relief I am feeling in my osteo thumb right now is better than any brace or taping. Could you please say how big a 'block' is in cm?

Any tips for how to keep it on after hand washing? I've used 5 strips in 2 days because I am training our puppy and there's a Lot of hand washing happening. I've followed all the advice for applying and upkeep (clean hands, alcohol wipe, no stretch on the ends, friction to activate the adhesive, blot the tape when it gets wet), but the darn thing keeps sliding off.

Ohh that is hard! Frequent hand washing makes things difficult. Maybe clean with alcohol spray after you wash then reapply

There is also an adhesive spray that you can use before you put the tape on which can make it extra sticky. I think Muller makes it.

So sorry - went stealth for a while on you tube! A bit worried about this. Just make sure the tension is just at the target site and the tape has no tension on either side of that

Thankyou for replying with cm sizing. Can you please help me with something else? I find that I never have a gap when applying the final piece but I'm not sure why. Should the 1st piece be completely below the base joint of the thumb, not covering it at all? I love this method and so I really want to get it right.

Could I use this whilst recovering from a dislocated cmc joint(without fracture)? I have a plastic brace but it gets in the way when working at the computer. Elastic wrap braces feel very bulky so taping seem like a better alternative. But is it enough support to make sure to keep the joint stable and allow the aol tendon to heal?

Can you tell me in inches how long the tape is. I have rock tape and it doesn’t have blocks. Thx.
@HANDTHERAPYEDUCATION

I will measure for you. I do not recommend rock tape in the hands- it has to much elasticity and will not work like kinesio tape. The sensory receptors are too refined and easily irritated in the hand with tapes like that- so make sure you keep your tensions very very low.

I find that any pressure on the basal joint itself is instantly painful. How can I modify this to minimize that problem ?
@HANDTHERAPYEDUCATION
3 жыл бұрын
If you cut the tape very thin and layer it piece by piece over the site of pain it will help lift the skin. Tear it in the middle and place it over the painful area - with the smallest amount of tension. Make it look like star type pattern- this will draw the skin from multiple directions to lift the skin. Plus it you take a small tool - like the edge of a spoon and gently scrape with lotion in the are that is painful- you should be able to free up the sensory nerve and skin- this will also help with the pain.

One main question ive had when doing stuff like this by myself is, is it supposed to have pressure all the way around my thumb?And should i still be able to move my thumb??
@HANDTHERAPYEDUCATION

No pressure all the way around- only at the base and under the joints. You should absolutely be able to use your thumb.

Kinesio light touch may help. or use milk of magnesia on your skin prior to application
