5:25 We have lots of these in Finland. It gets very dark in winter and, at least sensible people, wear reflectors. Pedestrians and cyclist a like. And this is one of the most practical ways of wearing one: No need for pins, stickers or clamps that may even damage your clothes. Just wrap one of these around your wrist in the morning to be sure that people in cars can see you when you are crossing the street. Though most of them are a bit longer than those, for wrapping it around your arm rather than your wrist. Or it could be that Tim is just huge :D

Tim, I have a snap ruler that I got in either 1971 or 1972 while in college in Durant Oklahoma studying electronics. It is 3 feet long and branded "Denison Radio Supply" from Denison Texas which is where I purchased most of my electronic supplies for school. I think you said they were invented in 1976 so mine is about 4-5 years older. It also says it was made in the U.S.A. and has this Patent number 2956795. The patent has a 1976 date (which is odd if I got mine in 1971/2) but the patent references other patents dating back to the 1950s and 1960s. I hadn't thought of it in years before seeing your video today and had to dig thru a bunch of my 'old stuff' before I could find it. Thanks for the memories. :-)

Hey Tim, for many years I had one similar and ended up throwing it away because it ripped but it was a drink cover. It was made of a neoprene sleeve and you could put it around a soda can or bottle and it was thick enough to keep the drink cold. We call it a Koozie here in the states, but it was a snap version. Since then, I've seen some with LEDs in them and wasn't sure if you knew it about them. If I run across one again, I'll send it to you! Cheers and keep up the great videos! P.S. Nice name!

A wrist snapper that could also function as a slideruler could be interesting to try just for the heck of it.....and if it worked it would be a heck of a lot more convenient and easy to carry. Something else that might work is applying the research being done on stretchable electronics for skin patches to a wrist slapper to create different gadgets from a watch to perhaps even a simple 8 or 16 bit computer with electronic paper display. I've seen a couple of articles about solar cells that can simply be printed on objects in a similar manner to inkjet printers, apply that to the wider wrist snapper along with a small electronic circuit and small usb connector and you could have a solar charger for your smartphone......granted it'd be slower charging then from a outlet but if your going to an area where outlet power may be unreliable/non-existent then it could be very useful.

I received two very short ones as extras with a shipment of ... sound equipment, I think it was. Right in the middle they had a flat bar at a 90˚ angle with glue on the back side. I guess the idea is that you glue it to the wall, and then you can make it snap round an object that you wish to hang on the wall. But it might not have worked too well since they were giving them away. I never tested them, as I don’t have any microphones or such that I want to hang on the wall.
