** so as I was looking up videos to find what position to play the 3 whole note Bs, I stumbled across this video ( • Pink Floyd Reunion - Time ) which shows that the bassist is playing the part that sounds like the metronome high up on the G and D strings. (though it looks like they cut footage from a few different shows)
This video ( • David Gilmour - "TIME"... ) also shows David Gilmour's bassist doing the same thing in the beginning as well.
and this video ( • Pink Floyd - Time ) shows the bassist is doing the same thing while Roger Waters played the keyboard parts that most people think is the bass in the intro
All three show a pick being used as well
Recording this song was quite annoying. It was hard to hear the initial bass entry, so I got off quite a lot and was doing the opposite string than I should have been for the metronome-like part.
I also kept running into audio problems with the bass for some reason. Stuff sounded like it was out of phase and I kept fixing one thing and it would be good and then sound bad again for some reason. I recorded a perfect take my first time, except the audio is all messed up, so I had to re-record. I even did a test of the audio beforehand just to be sure it was good. Ugh. I finally figured it out and was able to fulfill this request. I included the synth bass part as well because I imagine that's what a lot of people would prefer to play, but also that many people actually think that is the bass part (like I did before I looked into it).
Pink Floyd is always very nuanced and I hope that I did it justice
Thanks for watching! Enjoy :)
