This is too stunning for a Timex. I hate that it is non-hacking. But I'm going to get one. That Miyota movement and green seconds hand has pushed me over the edge.

I got this watch since 2 months and I'm loving it! I expected it to feel bigger though, because of the large bezel, the dial looks quite small. It also makes noise, but I'm geting use to it. Otherwise I find it so beautifull :) Great review, you helped me on that purchase few months ago :)

Very nice and comprehensive review as always. Really gives a good idea of the watch. I really like it. It does seem a bit overpriced for what it is though. Guess that at that price, Timex is looking to cash in on the nostalgic crowd and not aggressively going for conquest sales. And the green second hand is unusual I think. Might that color be a throwback to earlier watches (really asking as I don't know)? A pale sort of blue would match the cold colors of the watch better in my opinion. Thanks for bringing this watch to my attention!
@JustWatches1
3 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree on the blue hand. I'm not sure if it is a nod to history, but now I want to find out. I think Timex does really great sales on these watches, which is great. They aren't bad, I just think if you do more research you will find they are asking a lot relative to some other lesser know (at least in the US) brands.

Really good review of this beautiful watch! 👍 There is a dark blue dial with a black date available as well, which feels a bit more casual hipster. Both formats look great, and I’m besieged with indecisiveness! I’m also really glad to see Timex taking the effort to make affordable retro automatics, including their Marlin and Navi models, would love to see your review on those ones. Awesome!

I usually set the watch one to two minute sooner than actual and dont reset until 1-2 minutes past acutal time, as i dont mind. I noticed that if i dont rewind my waterbury dive, featured and convinced me to buy in a later review, it keeps time almost perfectly. I went 3 days and only saw the watch speed up 3 seconds, like a quarts watch. It even goes slower than actual time sometimes, why or how i dont really understand. Maybe it is a fluke or its just a balance of slow and fast that cancel each other out and make it appear more accurate than it really is, but im convinced that my watch is running better than it should.
@JustWatches1
Жыл бұрын
Timegraphers don't really represent how a watch will run on wrist. They tend to run slightly different in different positions, and throughout the day some of those differences average out. Also it depends on how you set the watch down at night. If it tends to lose a few seconds during the day, if you set it in a position where it gains time, you can make up the difference while you sleep. You can do some trial and error experimentation. I know some people figure out if they set the watch in a certain position at night they can greatly improve the overall accuracy.

Timex in the 1960's made watches that would be sold in W T Grant or Woolworths. They would for $9.95 and up. They would work for 5 years and you would through it away. My Father always bought them. Nothing changes with this company. Back in the 1890's they sold $1 watches under the Waterbury name.

Nice looking piece in all fairness but in reality doesn't offer much value at $260..I'd still go for the Maestro if it were closer priced as well, as accurate as the Miyota can be I just think the Orient is the better movement (& hacks). Good review and nice watch but only at a hefty discount.

Unfortunate choice of movement, to be honest. I get it, it's a cheap movement, but that's not enough to sell. It is nothing to look at (why bother with the exhibition crystal?), and it is not special. Also, who seriously looks at day date on the watch today? A couple of times a day people will just pull out their cellphone. You do glance for time, though. I say go all the way, get a manual hand wound movement, it would be way thinner and much more interesting to look at.
