We're back 🥳 We've been busy with our full time jobs, which means we've been traveling all over the UK shooting weddings, so progress on the land as been slow...BUT it's been amazing as our day jobs allow us to build up our funds, ready for the next stage of the cabin build! We are so excited for all the progress to come once we've fitted our windows and when cladding arrives in the next two weeks, the cabin is really going to transform🥳

I don't know if you know, but just a little bit of advice I learned from others, you need to cut the scapes just when they are starting to curl. Otherwise the scape will take energy from the bulb and make it smaller. Plus that's going to give you a wonderful mild garlic earlier than the bulbs. Makes a great pesto!

Thanks Jim, i definitely don't enjoy being up high, it's made me appreciate other peoples houses as we drive around and made me really think at how wildly steep some roof pitches are and that the people who build them and maintain them must charge a higher rate for such dangerous pitches. Hey Guys, great vid as always, really enjoy seeing your progress. With your garlic, if you harvest the scapes as soon as they form up, and leave the bulb a little longer, it will put the last of its growing energy into the bulds and help you get a bigger harvest 💚also if you pop those courgette plants outside in the beds (more than one of them), you won't need to hand pollinate them... Courgettes like a lot of space to grow and are quite hungry plants - they will give you a great harvest though. Happy Gardening 💚✌🌿

Thanks for all there tips 🥰 I will try that next time with the garlic scapes, thank you so much 💚 I've been taking them outside during the day and putting the pots near our comfrey plant, which the bees seems to love, hoping they will help pollinate. We do have a hole in the roof of our green house and I try and keep the door open in the day and I was so excited to see 3 honey bees buzzing around in there too 🥰

We bought a 8m X 4m polytunnel in December in the Christmas sales, we are just waiting to get all our drainage done on the land (it's booked in for July now the land is dry enough) as where we want to put the polytunnel holds so much water, so once we've put our new French drains in across the land, our new polytunnel will go up! It's going to be such an amazing additional to the land and I think then this small green house/raised bed area will become our flower garden 🥰

Hi Oscar, thanks for your comment. @CampOutWest

We have maintained the same consistency in uploads and progress since we started this channel. We have always been 'slow' or what we like to call realistic. Our channel documents our real life and people can choose to watch it when/if they wish, that's the beauty of KZitem, it's a free platform that gives you access to watch people and projects from all over the world. We know not everyone will like everything we do but that's the beauty of KZitem, you can just click off and watch all the other free content available. As I've said to someone before - I always wonder what people are comparing us to when they are complaining that we are doing things to slow/not enough progress? I wonder if it's because people are used to watching TV shows like grand designs where they are used to seeing something finished in one sitting, even though that episode took 3 years to complete etc? Or they forget we are just normal people. We work full time, so this project/ volume of videos/progress is realistic for us doing it around our full time jobs, budget and skill level. I also don't think people realise each element costs money - our last video we put on the roofing boards that cost £500 plus £900 for the scaffolding and £300 for the safety harness. That's £1700 spent just for that video, we then have to work to save up to buy all the other elements for the next stage. This video the membrane, battons and velux window cost over £1000 and then for the next stage on the cabin the cladding, finishing pieces etc is over £2500. There are natural breaks as we have to work to build up and funds as we do everything when we get paid from our day jobs and we also are also learning as we go, we aren't builders, plus not forgetting we are human and some days we take days off. The reality is we aren't full time KZitemrs, we are normal people working hard to make this project a reality, not get in debt or burn out. We could take out a loan and do things alot quicker, hire helpers etc and throw borrowed money at this project but that's not us. This speed is realistic ☺️ we are proud of everything we do and know it's not always going to be 'exciting' as that's not real. We know we will never be able to please everyone and that's fine with us. We are documenting our life and our interests and if people what to watch that's great but if they aren't interested that's fine too, we will never please everyone ☺️

Just to note for larger garlic bulbs if you harvest the scapes sooner it helps to focus the plants energy into growing the bulb :)

Just wanted to say the same. Eat the scapes first, while waiting a few weeks more for the bulbs to swell and separate.

When your campsite is up and running will it be available for those who have their own tents to pitch as well? Me and my friend love camping in Wales and would love to come over and support you guys with your business. ❤

Thanks so much Emma ❤️ to begin with it will just be for our fixed glamping tents as we will only have ensuites for each glamping tent, but we may look at having a dedicated shower/toilet block facilities for normal campers if there is enough demand 🥰

If you like your garlic big, try "Elephant garlic". We used to grow that, and it's very productive, with huge heads of somewhat milder-flavored garlic. But that was in Alabama, USA, so a little different climate. It also generally produced plenty of tiny cloves that broke off the main head during harvest, then became the next year's seed. "So now that the roof is completely waterproof, we're gonna cut a big hole in it." LOL. Coincidentally, we're working on getting a new skylight for our home. The current one was destroyed in a hail storm, along with other damage, a bit over 30K USD in damage to our truck and trailer (fifth-wheel toy-hauler RV, we live in full-time). For now, I have temporary repairs making our roof waterproof. Bees...one of the very few animals we intend to raise when we're "settled" again.

I always wonder what people are comparing us to when they are complaining that we are doing things to slow/not enough progress? I wonder if it's because people are used to watching TV shows like grand designs where they are used to seeing something finished in one sitting, even though that episode took 3 years to complete etc? Or they forget we are just normal people. We work full time, so this project/ volume of videos/progress is realistic for us doing it around our full time jobs, budget and skill level. Each element cost money - our last video we put on the roofing boards that cost £500 plus £900 for the scaffolding and £300 for the safety harness. The start of our project was just removing rubbish and breaking things down which was free and required little skill or money and in reality our video upload volume and progess is consistent with how we've always done KZitem. This speed is realistic ☺️

@CampOutWest your original videos 🤷♂️ I get it make take more than a day I dont dispute that, and dont dispute you do all the hard work yourself with hardly any professional help, my comment is more aimed at your uploaded videos. Why not just use your footage and make the videos with more content rather than just 1 video laying beems. 1 video laying 8 sheets of ply and then filling the rest of video with adverts or talking about plants. It is like you are just trying to spread your content out now to gain more views, money etc rather than making it interesting and good to watch. People like myself wait weeks to see your uploads and progression to finally get a video and see you fit 8 ply sheets in a full episode:/
