For me Vietnamese food is one of the tastiest. Fun to watch you try new things. The way you describe (even just pronouce) the "vejjiiz" and "frooiits" makes my mouth water. I will be in S.E Asia again myself in February. You are making me look forward to it very much. Keep eating!

At first I read this title like you had tips for new time travelers! We have to get back to the future and stop Taco Bell from becoming the only restaurant in existence. YOUR MISSION, food time traveler, is to meet up with the other famous KZitem food nuts, get the greatest recipes of the past from around the world and create the greatest food ever that will bring world peace.

As italian as well, i have problems in stomach in Asia eating street food, soups, spicy or not clean or beverage with ice, can cause food poison or go toilet, did you ever had the same issue? it happened in bali, vietnam and thailand

I know the feeling, and there are simple solutions: the bacteria in this part of the world is very different from the one we have in Italy, so as soon as you arrive in a new country don’t immediately eat their street food, and try to eat a local yogurt. Yogurts contains everything you need to boost your immune systems to local standard. Then you can start eating more risky stuff. By the way, veggies might not be clean. And noodles, buy them only if you see the water in the pot actually boiling

Probably don't tip altogether. Vietnamese people don't tip because they are highly competitive and like to think that they earn through their hard work, not what people think they should earn. Soon tipping will spread and you'll create a sense of unease among the customers and vendors, some vendors will demand tip and some customers will be confused on whether to tip or how much to tip as not to offend the vendors. Vietnamese don't care if you tip so it's best to stop that culture completely.
@MichelePonte

Unfortunately many Vietnamese that work with tourists have now a different mentality and ask for tips even when the service is bad.
