I’m getting my relaxer today after 5 yrs natural. Being natural is expensive if you cannot manage your hair on your own and time consuming. I miss my quick wrapped hair style and mid back length hair 😢

Honestly and realistically. You have to do what works best for your lifestyle. I would opt for keratin treatments instead to off set the risk of cancer from relaxers but ultimately the choice is yours.
You can color treat your hair with a relaxer ,you just have to use a semi permanent color🤗🤭👍🌺🦋

You are so right. All your tips are 💯 true. I had a relaxer since I was 12 years old. My hair is still very long and thick.

Your makeup is very pretty. Good tips!! Since I’ve learned how to manage my super tightly coiled hair AND finally started maintaining length, I’m never going back. I saw a photo from my 50th bday, which is when I started my no chemical transition with a tiny fro. That’s 3 years ago and I’m doing perfectly fine. I can braid every of section of my hair without absolutely needing to start it with yarn or braiding hair extensions.

At least every 2-3 months I think about how much easier my hair life would be if I just relax... but then I remind myself of how rubbish I am at looking after relaxed hair too🤣 I just slap a wig on

Sad that black women are going back to relaxers. Our natural hair is so beautiful and unique and exotic. No one else has hair like ours. The issue is too many black women want our hair to be like other races of women's hair. We try to style our hair like white and Hispanic women. Instead of doing styles that work for our hair.

I agree our hair is beautiful. Assimilation isn’t always the reason why some women decide to relax or straighten their hair. That may have been the narrative some years ago but that isn’t right today. Also, we have to be more understanding and open minded. Everyone doesn’t know how to do their hair, doesn’t have time to learn, need more assistance then watching KZitem videos, or don’t have the funds. On the other side of that, people are allowed to look how they want. It’s still just a hair, it could all disappear tomorrow but she’ll still be black. Black people have to learn to take politics out of black women’s hair and allow black women to enjoy having options. Black women are the only one who are constantly criticized and policed for “not being black enough” when the truth is we don’t have to bend or mold to anyone’s personal perception of what loving your blackness looks like.. A black women can be pro black and relaxed as much as we can in an Afro. Let’s let each other exist and be comfortable. My comfortable isn’t going to be your comfortable. We should want to give that same grace we desire for ourselves.

Or maybe some black women want to like what they see in the mirror. Just because you think they look best natural doesn’t mean they feel that way. Let them do as they please.

Not at all. Maybe those hair styles don’t work for everyone or aren’t manageable.. what works for u don’t and won’t work for all. Being relaxed doesn’t mean u feel any less about yourself.

Sadly, you think everyone should feel like you. Our natural hair is beautiful, but it's also hard to manage, and I don't know why people are afraid to admit the ugly truth. I was natural for over five years, but my hair was unhealthy. I don't care to look like any other race, but Black and relaxing my hair doesn't change that factor. What it does do is give me time back and less stress.

Chat with a professional who can see sans touch your hair but you should be ok since going dark is usually just a deposit of color it’s not really doing much to your hair but church with a stylist to be sure. Some box dyes aren’t the best quality
