In the given quantity you can make 16 gulab jamuns.
Ingredient list
FOR DOUGH BALLS
Mawa/ khoya/ milk solids (unsweetened)..............200gm
All purpose flour (maida)....................................1/2 cup
Cornflour/ cornstarch.........................................1 tbsp
Baking soda....................................................... 1/8 tsp
Green cardamom powder (elichi powder)............ 1/4 tsp
Ghee/ oil for deep frying
FOR SUGAR SYRUP
Sugar (cheeni)...................................................3 cups (600gm)
Water (paani)...................................................2 cups (500ml)
Milk (doodh).....................................................2 tbsp
Green cardamom powder (elichi powder)............1/4 tsp
Rose water / rose essence.....................................1/2 tsp
Lemon juice (neembu rass)................................. 1 tsp
TIPS
1) Little saffron can also be used while making sugar syrup. Cook sugar syrup till thick sticky consistency. If the syrup becomes one thread consistency add little water to get the right consistency.
2) Fry gulab jamuns in medium hot oil/ ghee. If they are fried in very hot oil/ ghee they won't get cooked well from inside.
3) Put hot gulab jamuns into WARM sugar syrup. If they are dunked hot in hot syrup then they will shrink unevenly and if they are dunked in cold syrup they won't soak syrup till its centre.
