I lived in "Elm Crescent" 70 - 73 & went to Locano Road school, enjoyed living on the Tibbington estate back then. Use to play on that big open space at the back of our house, it's now a housing estate. Great times.

The Sportsman ohh yes. What a pub. Few pints and then chips from the Cabin on St Marks Road or Frydays. Do you remeber a pub called the Woodman near Princes End? I used to visit a pub with my Grandad and I swear it was called the Woodman but I can’t find any reference to it online, and unfortunately my Grandad is no longer around to ask!!

I grew up in Oval Rd in the 1950s, so all the area was very familiar to me. The Bruce was known locally as the flea pit because you always came out scratching! I went to to the joint school, and the playground was divided in two by a high wall with a wide opening large enough to get a vehicle through. One side of the wall was the girls playground and the other side was the boys. Woe betide any boys who went over to the girls side!

Love your videos, bring back a lot of memories. I was born in Toll End then we moved up to Lichfield St on the Naco estate as it was known when I was 4-5, we were one of the first families to move on the estate. I went to the Joint School. Some of your memories on one or two are a bit sketchy but did love watching them. Thank you.

I’ve bought my kids up in wombourne they don’t believe me when I tell them we had no indoor toilet lol. I worked with your uncle Allan at the bean, what a man

Hi. Just watched your video with The Bruce cinema. Bit of info it was further up Newhall St towards the lights where the houses are and I think it got burnt down by a local youth who I’m sure was sent to borstal. Also Allen’s club used to be the Canteen and social club for W G Allen’s in Princes End which was on the corner by the lights became an industrial estate. Spent many dinner time in there when I worked there and weekends in the club with my family. Lovely memories from your videos thanks
