Thanks for the no nonsense review and tasty playing. No split coil humbucker can quite nail a true Fender type single coil sound because of it's design. The coil itself can be wound to be very similar, but humbuckers use bar magnets underneath the coil whereas a Tele single coil has rod magnets through the centre of the coil and that makes for a snappier twang that bar magnets won't deliver. So like you say, it's best not to expect a true Tele sound and just accept it for what it is. I have a TC59, which is exactly the same except it has a solid body. It's a great modding platform. I put a humbucker size Charlie Christian in the neck and a humbucker size p90 in the bridge, also swapped the heavy dead sounding bridge for a 3 saddle chopped Tele bridge and did some fret levelling. It's a great sounding guitar now. I'm tempted to get the thinline version and swap everything over just for a lighter guitar. The TC59 weighs as much as a heavy Les Paul.

Thanks! yes it's a good Jack of all trades but master of none guitar... more than worth the cost though. I will say I love the coil split with both Bridge and Neck whenever I want a country "Telly style" chicken picken sound

I bought one of these last year and could not be more impressed with the value and I echo your well chosen comments. Not too heavy on the shoulder also. My guitar had some slight roughness inside the F hole which was easy to sort out. Overall, for versatility, playability and value, these guitars are one of the bargains of the last few years. They should make a lot of higher end and higher priced guitar makers look over their shoulders. I am not a brand snob and take things on merit. Wouldn't"t it be interesting to do a blindfolded review comparing the established names in a bang for buck scenario. Good luck with your new Channel.

Thanks! Yeah it’s a hell of a good deal. I’m thinking of doing a video on how to adjust your amp settings depending on your guitars output. Since doing this video I’ve dialed in a few settings that are quite different from my les Paul or fender that makes the TL69BND really shine

I wish other guitar reviewers did what you do. It makes it easy to judge the merits of the guitar and the downsides. This was an honest and no BS review from an actual muso, and that makes ALL the difference. Thanks mate and keep up the good work.

Hey thanks! What I try and do is make sure you’re actually getting the tone of the guitar + amp (set on very basic settings) so you can hear that and nothing else. It drives me nuts when I see people do it where you can hear the room and even worse when you can hear the sound of their pick mixed in because they are recording the 2 feet away from where they are playing and the room sounds bleed into what should be the dry signal of the guitar… makes it rather difficult to tell what the pickups are actually capturing… thanks again. Glad you liked it.

Great review & you played it clean, so we can hear the actual true tone of it. Most reviewers play flashy stuff with all sorts of effects which sound just like any electric guitar available. I agree with you that it does not quite sound like a twangy Tele nor a Les Paul, but for most players, it is not too bad & really looks the business. I have the TC59 & put a hot bridge single coil in to give a great Tele sound which mates well with the very good Artist neck humbucker. Your review was much better than most on the tube. Cheers.

Hey thanks. I only started the Chanel to talk about gear I like and concepts of music creation that I wished I’d known earlier. But yes the main point should be “how does the actual guitar sound…without any other tone hiding device added. Thanks. Glad you liked it

A mate of mine was at a NAMM show twenty years ago and said lookout the Chinese are coming. What he saw all these Chinese with cameras and laptops and tape measures all over guitars . It has come to Australia in the name of Artist Guitars. They are clones of Fenders and Gibsons etc. They are exceptional value and are so close to the real thing the mind boggles. All the reviews are spot on as i have purchased several guitars and a tweed amp and all are fabulous. I have a John Lennon Casino i purchased 15 year ago . Made buy Epiphone and made in China a great guitar. China is going to decimate the guitar industry as fender has cut staff and can't compete and musicians are realizing they don't have to spend thousands of dollars. Great for us .

I've got TC-59. The only appreciable difference is the weight. The TC-59 weighs a shite-ton. lol I take it to blues jams w/a Vox G2 3w busking amp and just stick an SM57 in front of it through the mains. The first time I showed up everybody thought it was a joke...until we kicked into the first song. The G2 held its own for stage volume. I use a Boss TU-2, Beringher Vintage distortion(the green one) and that's it. It's a killer rig. I keep the amp on the twin setting. Tone at 12 o'clock, gain at 1 and the volume buried. I like a simple rig. Artist electrics are the best affordables in the world barr none.

Yeah the TC-59 and the TL69BND are essentially the same except for the weight difference. I love the versatility.

Thanks. The brown Strat is a 1994 MIJ 1962 Reissue… it wasn’t until many years later I learned of the near cult following of Made in Japan Fender Strats… though I do understand why… I’m yet to touch a Strat in any shop that feels as nice and plays as seamlessly as mine.

For a beginner, how would you compare this to an LP? For someone who’s looking for their first dual humbucker, is this a good option compared to an LP? Particularly Artist’s own LP60/LP59.

Hi @Seneor Bobson, In short good humbucker tone, but the feel is different due to Gibson and Artist have a different scale length
