I relate so much to this movie having gone to inner city schools in Queens NYC starting out in '67. We used to go to the Museum of Natural History every year. This scene reminds me so much of those trips. I wish I had pictures of those school outings. I'm 61 now and do alot of looking back. This film is like going back to my childhood.

I found this by mistake searching for something completely different. God, I feel so old now. I was 5 years old when my mom took me with her to see this in Times Square Where has the time gone? My mom and Sydney Poitier were born in the same year (she just passed in Jan) Incredible how 53 years can pass so quickly. These people were young and now most are old and some dead. It was just 1967 and then 2020. Life is so short I'm married (To a Brit no less) with grand kids, ready to retire in 4 more years. This clip reminds me to cherish every minute you have on this earth, for it surely will never come again. Your youth is a moment and then it's gone. I truly understand the saying "youth is wasted on the young" To the youth who see this, don't waste your life, it's over before you know it. (RIP Mom}

A lot of people ( including the author of To Sir With Love whose life is the basis for the movie) fail to understand, is that the film was made in the mid 60's of sexual revolution , Love, and civil rights. So the film was made to register with the young people of the day by reflecting those issues. It says caring about someone and other people can bring about big positive changes in you and others. It is a masterpiece.

I was about 6 yrs old when I heard this song. That year was also when I met my mother for the very first time. She had walked on us, like some mothers out there still make the same mistake she did. It wasn't easy, but I forgave her, though the only mother I ever had was my grandmother who raised me. Life hadn't been easy to me, but God never let me down. My wounds still hurt, but God gives me the strength and love I need.

The producers sought permission to film in the British Museum for the outing sequence, were denied only a few days prior to filming, although stills photography was permitted. Stills photographers Laurie Ridley and Dennis C. Stone were given a free hand, following the cast throughout the museum, creating the iconic montage sequence for the movie. I think that worked out perfectly.
