I'm starting a new series of videos focused on getting your questions answered! In this video we discuss tonal contrast, sometimes called creative contrast and where it belongs in your color grading pipeline. We also discuss shot matching and how tonal contrast integrates with linear contrast when look at shots on a clip by clip basis. That said, when setting a high level look I do really like using external tools like DCTLs and plugins to help generate a nice clear curve with controllable roll-offs. I would encourage you to experiment around to find your favorite! These techniques work in Davinci Resolve 19 as well as previous versions. Make sure to check out my free resource page below for the additional learning mentioned in the video!
