@@nancythornton2947 just grate cabbages (half a head)add a spoon of salt and keep it in your room temperature for an hour covering with towel.then start pounding it with a tool or use your hand to knead them like a dough for few minutes then add baby kales or you can chop green leaves or add them in your jar in any shapes. When all your veggies are in a small tall jar just keep pressing them until the juices come on top .you should have enough juice if not just add a bit water.you want everything under the brine. just place a zipper bag on top of the jar and fill it with water a bit to keep everything under . Label the jar and place in your kitchen top for 3-5 days.you can tell if it’s ready by smell it after few days.you can also taste the water to see if it taste like pickle.just use enough salt otherwise it goes bad.

I grew up in the South and we ate a lot of turnip greens. The schools served it and now it reminds me of my childhood. Cornbread was also popular however unfortunately not on the Gundry diet. My grandparents ate buttermilk cornbread and lived in their mid 90's and were very healthy until the end. Then again they grew a lot of their own veggies so that probably contributed.

Sweet potato is the only potato that’s good for a human. Table salt is NO good, use sea salt or Himalayan pink salt instead and use it up to the needs of your organism (as much or as little that you crave because our body has a way of its internal regulation when it comes to salt and never when it comes to sugar)

Dr Gundry, you need to write another book called the Calendar Cookbook. I am never sure what fruit or veggie is in season. Living in northern MN...choices are slim too. Start the book in January with what is PP approved. Put a mix of favorite ideas and recipes for that month....and using frozen food choices also. @kh485

For carnivore is “awesome” because it contains no fiber and has all the carcinogens and with TMAO it can clog your arteries quicker. And feel free to slap it on the hot grill and get HCA’s in PAH’s. Colorectal cancer will be just around the corner. It’s a great way to increase IGF-1 and impair arteries. In time, saturated fat can increase the likelihood of insulin resistance and diabetes and eventually contribute to Alzheimer’s. That sounds like a great plan. And to boot, we can all support factory farming. And increased CO2 and methane omissions.

So, I am at a crossroads -- I've been doing the carnivore diet and it seems to be doing OK, but I can't quit wondering what will happen to my organs and blood. I hear certain KZitem creators who are medical doctors that say Keto and Carnivore diets are great ... maybe Keto, I don't really know. But as an Earthling, I can't believe that we aren't expected to take advantage of various foods, like berries, grapefruits, red beans, etc. I've lost some weight on carnivore but I don't think it's going to be truly sustainable from a will-power perspective. Man, I grew up on pinto beans that my Granny cooked...I still love them. So, how to know what the truth is when eight doctors tell you eight things? Cheers!

I am age 72. After about 7 years of every day being a "sick day," I started doing my best to follow your food suggestions on 2021 December 7 as I continued to learn about them. On 2021 December 10, I had the first day that I actually felt good, without even a slump, in all those years. The week continued without my being sick at all. I was shocked that my bleeding (anal and nasal) has stopped and further shocked that I've lost 9 pounds in those 13 days. I hate all alcohol and will not drink it; still, in about 2000 or so, I was told that I was an alcoholic by several doctors at my HMO and called a liar when I told them I don't drink. One of those told me I would not live through 2011. I was finally diagnosed as having PBC, probably a correct diagnosis. I am not sure when I was diagnosed as having diabetes, and I have taken insulin daily since that diagnosis. About three years ago, I started having what I think was leaky gut, which put me to bed in diapers, just to try to have some control, for around a year. I told my doctor and all he did was write down that I was incontinent. I was never offered treatment. I only think it is leaky gut because of what you have written. Since 2021 December 7, my sugar level has dropped so low that I have been off insulin (for the first time since I was diagnosed). I still check my blood sugars twice a day. I NEED HELP: The only physical problems I know that I am dealing with are that I still feel exhausted and I have developed bad constipation. I have started taking Metamucil and have had relief, but Metamucil has aspartame in it. THANK YOU!

@rouxchat6033

Oh, please get off Metamucil. Try a magnesium potasium suppliment. I like a product called Charlie Horses, available from a health food store or online. Two gel tabs before bed with a full 8 oz. glass of water and you'll have a BM in the morning. Now some people get diahrea so start with one gel tab. Other similar products do not work for me. The specific formula in Charlie Horses is the only one that works for me. I started taking it for severe night cramps in my legs especially after hiking. It stopped them completely. I've been chronically constipated since childhood and never found anything that worked beyond a few days or so. This product is the ONLY thing that works for me for constipation. So, that was an unexpected bonus. BTW, I am also 72. I have absolutely no affiliations with this product. Good luck to you. Better health means better life. 💗 PS: Another benefit is a great nights sleep. 😁

Dr. Gundry…..How safe are soaked nuts for a healthy diet? I consume soaked almonds, walnuts, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, peanuts and hazelnuts on a daily basis…and I have been doing so since years....without any side effect. I consume them because I feel they provide me with tonnes of micronutrients. However I wonder whether I am on a right path or wrong. Although I have noticed that soaking helps me get rid of a lot of dirt and grime and probably mold off the nuts and seeds, and although I have noticed that the soaked nuts lose some of their fat content (as I always see an oily layer on the water after soaking them), and although I have heard that enzyme activity increases in the seeds after soaking up, which helps us digest them better….I would be glad if you can throw some light on this topic. Rgds.

Lectins, oxalates, phytase and other anti-nutrient are as overplayed as hormones in animal products. The only thing lectins, oxalate and phytase do is that they are bound to nutrients rendering your body unable to absorb some of them. Like with peanuts for example about 20 percent of all calories and some minerals will just pass through you. You can blend them, roast them, ferment, sprout, soak, steam or just boil if its an issus

grains contain inflammatory lectins......whole and processed......and are a very heavy carb......which if doing a low carb diet you should avoid. I dont eat breads/pastas full stop.....and am way better for it in body weight and digestion. Whoever told you bread is healthy is full of it.....drop it from your diet and you'll see a change in body composition very quickly!

@Notsure R The recipe for the keto bread is 1/3 cup of ground almonds (I like it with the skins on because it has more flavour; you can buy raw almonds and put them in your food processor to grind), 1/2 tsp baking powder, one Tbsp olive or avocado oil (or any non-processed oil that is good for you), 1 egg. Mix really well. Cook in microwave on high for a minute or so. let cool a bit and slice crosswise. Can also be toasted. I cook mine in a 4 x 4 inch container. It is the perfect size for this
