I’m from Gloucester and used to live in Birmingham, and, yes, this area is, broadly, the Midlands. I’ve never played Brass, but it does look interesting.

Perhaps a top 10 list of the games with the best written rule sets or player aids?

I can see War of the Ring being classified as a wargame, but not Middle-Earth Quest.

I'm not a fan of the Middle Eart Quest map, it seems a bit cluttered and detracts from the environment.

Board games in all mave much more beautiful maps than wargames in order to appeal to broader audience - but if I choose one I'll pick Twilight Imperium 4th edition. I know it is kinda cheat because there are almost infinite maps inside one game because of tiles, but each tile is so colorfur, so beautifully drawn and described so you just see life in this galaxy of horrible interstellar conflict. (Also I wanted to mention Brass but it already was in video)

Gallerist is my favourite game board, for a world map i would choose eldritch horror (railways, sea routes, you can go around the globe, and cities divided into regions by the colour says what you can getr there). I am interested in SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, because it simulates rotation of planets around sun, but its not released yet. For wargames i love the look of Burning banners

My YT image is a brewery on the canal in Stone. I've really blanked on this I guess it's something I don't find very important?

I rarely play non-wargames, so only have a top four: Ticket to ride Europe (love the old place names); Nanty Narking (evocative Dickensian London); Carcassone and Catan (joint, both ok, but somewhat bland).
