The only thing that I can I liked in the movies is some of the attractive actress they have in their movies like Sophie Monk, Carmen Electra and Vanessa Minnillo but that's not really saying much. Here are some of the reasons why I have a grudge against Michael Bay: 1. He puts ZERO effort into his movies 2. He movies as a whole are style over substance in a bad way 3. His overuse of explosions in movies have gotten old fast 4. His humour attempts in movies are atrocious as fuck 5. He objectifies women in almost all his movies 6. Most of his films has a beat you over the head patriotism 7. He makes the same damn movie over and over and over again and doesn't evolve as a director 8. He made only one good movie-(The Rock) and the rest of his movies-(minus the first Bad Boys and first Transformers movie) ranges from being forgettable to horrendous 9. With all the shitty movies he has made since 1998-(Starting from Armageddon), I have ZERO hope that Michael Bay will ever make a great movie ever again and Transformers 4: Age of Extinction just sinks it even deeper 10. He doesn't even listen to all the criticism he gets from critics and audiences alike-(He even walked off stage during a press conference panel when asked to explain his approach to directing). It's all his way only and he is all "Here's my film, enjoy it" and doesn't give a single fuck of what audiences and critics think about his movie

His biggest strength is making fantastic visuals, but most of his characters are weak if not mean-spirited, and the plots of his movies are sometimes contrived and forced. I have nothing against the guy, but I don't think he's the greatest director working in Hollywood at the moment. If there's anything positive for me to say, I would love him to co-direct a movie with someone who can create fantastic stories and characters, such as Joss Wheden or Guillermo del Toro.

+Tony Davis (Battlion50) Yeah, it's the same deal with Seth Macfarlane. I loved the first 3 seasons of Family Guy, the best adult show I've seen at the time. But, nowadays, Macfarlane's style of comedy is cringeworthy, if not overused and prolonged. Again, nothing against the guy. But I feel like he gets too much credit for making subpar entertainment. Especially with such projects like the later Family Guy seasons, Ted 2 (I havent seen Ted, but, from what I've seen, it's not really for me), A Million Ways To Die In The West, and the Cleveland Show. I'd like to think Fox is responsible for his decline in quality because I like to blame Fox for everything... :P

+Tony Davis (Battlion50) Not to mention Walking With Dinosaurs, Fant4stic, Fox News, and those wannabe Star Wars prequels. I guess you can say all film corporations, and all corporations in general, are flawed, but for me, Fox and Sony are the most flawed, Fox with its long track record of f*** ups and Sony with its infamous product placement and equally terrible number of f*** ups. If I ever work for a film corporation I'd rather work for Warner Bros. and Disney, since, for every f*** up Disney makes, they make five good movies to bury them. Except for the Disney Channel. That channel is damaged goods. And, as long as I don't work on a superhero movie for WB, I will be happy.

The reason why many of these filmmakers keep finding work is that a large number of us keep paying to see their films. Michael Bay will still make movies the way he does because they consistently make more than $100 million on their opening weekend. The studio's are only cranking out what turns a profit. It's our responsibility as fans to vote with our wallets in an attempt to ensure that good filmmaking has a better chance to become more common.

I rather liked the first Scooby Doo Movie it didn't take it self very seriously and kind of parodied the series. The second one was a little more like a straight up Scooby Doo. I mean Scooby Doo isn't high art to begin with. Kruger is a quirky example. Back in the late 90s he wrote a little thriller called Arlington Road which won a Nichols Fellowship Award. For the most part he really tried to write that as rather intelligent thriller. Then he did things like Reindeer Games and The Ring and I guess he just figured that's whats gonna get him hired. Daredevil I think is a underrated I find it interesting you'd call it generic when many Marvel movies today are following the same template set by Iron Man. Daredevil was dark and gritty before Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. I also have to say it dealt with the hardships of being a hero better than the Dark Knight. Blasphemy I know. Putting the slowing of the super hero movies solely on him I think is a little much, after all there was Ang Lee's Hulk and the Fantastic Four, and the Punisher which nobody saw though I guess there was Elektra... Daredevil; it had issues yeah but I think it was a solid attempt. Ghost Rider is terrible though. Cowboys and Aliens also had like 10 other writers on board and Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard as producers that must have had it's production pulled in 20 directions after that but I thought it was a decent B movie.

The thing about Ed Wood is that he just made films because he loved the art and loved being a director. Basically he followed the philosophy "Do what you love" and took it to heart. There's a movie about him (not a documentary) that expresses that, so we can at least give him props for that...... Although that doesn't change the fact he created nothing but bad movies. As for Paul W.S. Anderson, people love his movies because they laugh at how bad they are, so I can see why he would get a pass here. But he also continues the Resident Evil movies because they're love letters to his wife.

Nothing against you, but by all means, please. Make a whole 130 minute movie. Being a filmmaker is so fucking hard now a days, cuz every concept for a movie has been made, and even when it's something interesting and new it really doesn't shock audiences. Now I will give credit since some of these directors and writers do make really bad movies and don't even try *cough uwe bolle cough* it really is hard to make a film, whether it be a comedy, drama, action, especially horror it's hard to shock audiences or even scare them. I'm a filmmaker and I'm making a short bullied victim film and my worst fear is for everyone to hate it. I'm so desperate that i care for every little detail like shots, angles, lighting, location, everything. I knew Shamalamadingdong would be in the number 1 spot. I can understand if a person has a passion for a certain genre or style, they want to use it more...but for the life of me, I can never understand WHY some director's and writer's don't take constructive criticism well, if at all.

I'll tell you this, Tony. In my opinion, Bo Welch (well-known for the live-action "Cat in the Hat") can be the worst director. I watched the whole film, and what do I think of the live-action "Cat in the Hat"? I did NOT have a sense of humor to that film. Nothing else to say there. That's all I have to.

If the movie made money, no matter how bad the writing was, they will be hired again. Quality is not something Hollywood cares about. Now that most of their money is made in foreign and Third World markets, there is actually an argument AGAINST making anything nuanced or sophisticated. It makes more money if it's stupid.
