I tend to catch videos on my lunch hour and just want to say how much I appreciate your QUALITY, to-the-point videos; there are quite a few 'well-meaning' posters out there but they tend to ramble and their feeds are less than stellar. I don't wish to watch CMDRs floundering around while trying to make a point. You are right up there with Obsidian and Yamiks. Will definitely be checking out 'Ghost Giraffe.'

Videos like this are a perfect example of why I don't wonder about the relatively small size of the ED community. The game alone is daunting in the amount of information to take in as a new player, but when you consider the absolutely endless amount of things left unexplained by the game it's truly intimidating. I've played over 400 hours of E:D and I intend to continue playing, but a ton of this stuff gives the impression that playing this game is a full time job rather than a relaxing hobby.

CravenTHC: As with most online multi-player games, if you want to advance to the top tiers it pretty much is a full time job. This is not saying that you can't play casually, however you will not have the ships/resources/money that the top players have without a lot longer time played as in days/weeks/months. When ED first went gold, they reset everyone back to the beginning and held a contest to see who could get "Elite" in all 3 categories. The winner did this by taking a vacation from his job for a month and spent 10 hours a day playing as well as completely wearing out his X52 pro HOTAS just so he could win the $10k prize. In this case, it really was a full time job for him.

I play casually, about 6 or so hours a week. I have played for 3 weeks and just bought an Asp explorer with upgrades. Just saying that for me I use these tools to make things easier so i can play casually and get a lot out of my time. Also, that i don’t want to ever have billions of credits and end up getting bored with the game. I want new things to look forward to and work for. These tools help me a lot in maximizing my time.

Inara is awesome - just being able to locate interstellar factors nearby which you can't do accurately from EDDB or in-game at the moment has saved me oodles of time.
@austinm5630

Just one tiny little side note: EDDiscovery can be configured to automatically sync with Inara, and also with EDDB, including a bidirectional sync with EDDB. This bith allows you to easily link your current ships to friends on Inara, and also get corrent price data from EDDB without as much input as EDDiscovery will already know where you are and also what your ship can hold. Of everything on this list, I personally find EDDiscovery the most valuable just because of how well it works alongside both EEDB and Inara. I would've ranked it at least #3 myself, but I can still respect this list anyway :)

Really helpful. Thanks for all the hard work of compiling the information and links below. As a newbie I have no clue what I’m doing. I nearly ran out of fuel on my second mission, because I got lost in the star system and hadn’t figured out how to use the star system map. I actually thought I could just fly to the space station at sub-light speed! Boy was I wrong about that . . . and several other things, like trying to land on a moon at faster than light speed. I narrowly survived a mission that would be as easy as breathing to you guys. Steep learning curve indeed . . . 😳

I really like ED Discovery for it's regular updates/fixes/discord interaction with developer and the fact it keeps EDSM and now Inara.cz profiles up to date all the time. Just to add - my absolute favourite tool in ED Discovery is the Ground Compass overlay which will tell you exactly what heading to fly/drive to get to a precise long/lat. So wait, are you saying you transferred your entire account from Xbox to PC or that you started over on PC? If you don't know you can do a 1 time transfer from PC-Console or Console-PC so there's no need to reset if that's what you did.
@Pbwv

They only transfer your credit net worth, it's not a true account transfer. You lose all engineering, reputation, and discipline unlocks you had on the platform you're transferring from.

@Pbwv
6 жыл бұрын
Positive, and that's how it's always been. Anyone who has transferred an account accross platform, only took their credits with them and had to grind everything else. Here is how they warn you to make sure you really want to do go through with it. Directly from my support email "Hey Phillip, Thanks for getting in touch. You'll be happy to know we can indeed assist in moving between platforms and that some of your progress may be transferred. Do note that this process does come with some restrictions and we'll need you to read and agree to them before we can proceed: We can only transfer wealth (credits) from an account. This will be a Net Worth transfer and so include the value of ships and modules. DLC, Frontier Points, rank, merits, cargo and other in-game progress made cannot be transferred and will have to be re-earned or repurchased. Wealth transfer can only be done once and, once completed, cannot be reversed. After confirmation, your original CMDR will be removed and cannot be restored. After confirmation, your new CMDR will be granted the value of your previous CMDR's assets directly to their current balance. If you're happy to proceed after careful consideration of the limitations above, then please get back to us as soon as you can and we'll be happy to make this happen for you. Kind regards, CMDR Polyot Elite Dangerous Customer Support Wing" And the follow up email after I confirmed my decision "Hey there Phillip, Thank you for getting back to us and confirming your transfer! This has now been completed. Your Xbox Commander had a net worth of 738,962,135 credits which has now been transferred to your PC Commander. This has brought the balance of your PC Commander to 739,038,616 credits which you will see when you next access Elite Dangerous. As such, your Xbox Commander has now been permanently deleted from the system, however, you are welcome to create a new Commander at any time should you wish to do so! I hope this helps, however, if there is anything else we can do then please reach out to us. Best Regards,"

Interesting - thanks for sharing - I will say I do still think that's new as I know, personally, several commanders who have converted over and they certainly didn't mention they lost all their rank. I am a Noob commander here and was curious about all the ED companion apps out there. I personally find it throws off the immersion for me to constantly be having to get out of the game to go to all these websites, although they provide a wealth of great data, and I am getting ready to go full VR which makes the issue even more important to me. I read that Frontier banned any type of scraping, although I can't imagine why with a game this expansive for god's sake, but I have not been able to find any sort of recent ( 2019) guide as to which are the best and most useful, as well as which might run afoul of any policies about such things by Frontier. If anyone could point me to this type of info it would be much appreciated... Or if you wanted to make a top 10 video about such that would be even more awesome. ;)

You should try ED Route (ed-route.com). It’s a simple and elegant route planning tool that is especially useful for multiple passenger missions. You enter where everyone wants to go and it presents the best order to visit them. You can’t import the route directly into the game and the Galaxy Map often gives a slightly different route anyway, but ED Route tells you where to aim for next and accurately predicts the number of jumps. Particularly helpful when you pick up a new mission en-route and need to re-calculate.

(Though I do _one_ thing differently: Due to how highly effective the Material Traders are and how negligible the travel distance is, I get my Raw Materials at the Bug Killer crash site on HIP 16613 1 A.)

@@AniGaAG Yeah, that one really is a game-changer isn't it? As for the bug killer site sure, no issues there - but if you do go try the Crystal Shard sites if you do that loop twice you likely won't need raw materials until you've engineered like 5+ ships, as in fully engineered every module.

Well remember the community is always going to extend what a game can do, which is a good thing. So while I do wish some, maybe much of this was built in there is always going to be a place for 3rd parties.

Elite Dangerous is my simple space simulator. I got in in beta..played a bunch initially but I think I am getting dumber as I get older. I bought voice attack with ASTRA but I am not smart enough or patient enough to get it functioning. There is just so much to do in the game and so much distance to cover. I haven't touched it since the Thargoids were introduced. I don't play online cause people suck, out loud. I have never used an engineer and don't understand that system of upgrades anyway. I mine and sell. I grab the odd bounty.. do missions, simple gameplay. I have stopped watching any Tuber videos that say make 300 million in 1hr cause even if it was true, by the time I fly half way across the universe Frontier has nerfed whatever it was that was giving such ridiculous numbers. I find the game beautiful to look at especially relative to the original Elite, though my mind made that look like this anyway. The demise of disks in store to online purchasing has altered gaming for me to the point where I just don't do complex or detailed games anymore cause I have too many and I will never complete any of them before moving on to the next. Makes me kinda sad but I can't stop trying new crap. Good video! Think I watched it when you put it out originally.

How many of these will work for PS4?

Honestly not many - some you can use but they can be tough since you can't copy/paste from a browser. Any of the tools that read your logs (EDEngineer, etc) aren't - unless you manually type everything in (which you sorta have to do - Elite is just much better suited to PC)
