Story time: I've been to Vortex Springs a few times, most memorable it being one of our open water dives during my scuba license course. As you'd expect, there was plenty of "book work" in a class going over how to use the dive equipment, local laws and of course safety which did included cave diving. Prior to our dive session at Vortex, our instructor specifically told us that there are caves here but we do not have the certifications to go in and obviously strictly prohibited it. During the dive, he eventually led our group to the mouth of the cave system to show us that exact sign warning about the dangers. This is the area where we did a few "drills" and then we were off to freely explore. I remember looking at those caves and with certainty knowing I would NEVER go cave diving. Not only because it was pitch black and I think it takes extreme courage to do something like that, but I dont think many people wonder about what's hiding in those caves. I only say this because before doing the drills, our instructor opened a can of those mini vienna sausages and handed each of us a sausage. Almost immediately we were swarmed with fish but there were also different fish we never saw prior which included white eels that scared me when I first saw them (he never mentioned the eels there). Now hearing this story totally reaffirms how sketchy and scary those caves actually looked. Especially how we were swarmed with animals we never saw prior and how quickly it became dark in there. That and my overactive imagination makes me wonder what else is hiding that's not obvious to anyone. Random side note- there is a cool upside down box at the bottom where you could go in, two at a time, and take off your mouthpiece and breath since it was holding an air pocket. It was a weird but cool feeling to know you're that deep and you're breathing "underwater".

But that one video where he passes the cave and he acts like he didn’t see it because he got spooked by it looking different or some reason like that and then he goes missing and the cave was sealed up like the rest of those types of caves i just hope he wasn’t inside when it was sealed but the fact he went missing would either mean he got lost (not likely as he knew the area well) something or someone took him, k1lled him, or he went deep enough into the cave to get sick and either died before, during or after it was sealed. It’s been months since i last stopped looking into it so im going off of my own, 31 year old memory of something on social media 6 months to a year ago so take that how you want.

I thought there was a general consensus that Kenny committed suicide and he used the M cave thing as a sort of stunt or show. I could be remembering wrong but wasn’t there alot of evidence like kenny struggling with depressions for a long time and his leaving his camera behind on the day he supposedly left for M cave? He could’ve really found M cave and had been telling the truth about it, but the fact that he rarely brought his pistol with him on hikes, but he brought it on this one. And the fact that his girlfriend herself stated that he could’ve taken his own life, and this would’ve been the way he’d do it
@dj_react

@@pip5188 His girlfriend released info regarding his depression and her opinion that he likely committed suicide. She posted this on YT after some buzz started with people searching for the cave and him. This video started me down the whole "M cave" rabbit hole and it is still being actively investigated today. The cave you see at the beginning of his last video that he passes has been investigated and only goes in about 6-10'. I dont remember someone else telling Kenny not to go in the cave. I do remember Kenny telling others not to go in the cave because it made him vibrate and feel generally uneasy. Then the comments lit up with "pics or stfu" so, supposedly he went out for the last time to get evidence. Though he didnt bring his camera and left his phone and wallet on the ground near another mine so it's anyone's guess as to what his plan was up there. It sure fits the suicide narrative though with so many people having made similar hikes you would think someone would have discovered his body by now. Personally, I dont believe there is any mysterious "M cave" and it was just some bs he put in the comments section of another YTer's page to get attention. But I continue to follow the videos as their posted. If you just put "M cave" in the search bar you'll find a couple people actively investigating this to this day. Pretty interesting regardless.

I went to lake Tahoe when I was 19. There this rock not to far from the shore, easy swim. You can climb on the rock and dive in the water. But also if you swim like 15 feet down there's a narrow tunnel way that carves through this large rock, you can swim through, maybe only 12 feet long. So we do it! I was the last one to go, well I lost my momentum about have way through and its so narrow you can't put your arms or legs out to swim. So I reach on the sides and bottom to push to propel myself but it all really slick, coated in moss or algae or something. So I started to panic, but i had to remind myself not to panic and reach a solution. So I wiggled my body like a worm and started to slowly move forward. I made it out of the tunnel, I barely made it the 15feet back to the surface before gasping for air. I'll never do anything so stupid ever again.

Important to note about Kenny: his girlfriend has since said that she actually believes Kenny may have disappeared on purpose. Apparently he had a history of depression and was struggling mentally at the time he went missing, and as an explorer it would be easy for him to disappear himself in a way that he wouldn't be recovered. She noted that he had not brought his camera with him that he used to record, so his intention this time wasn't to find M-cave. That is definitely the saddest possible ending, but it comes from the person closest to him, and based on her explanation I think that is what happened.

I have a story about aight good friend of mine that died when he went hiking on the Appalachian trail near Bear Mountain located in New York. My friend Chris was a risk taker. He loved skydiving, bungee jumping, rock climbing, discovering new caves which were known to be very dangerous (even for experience cave explorers). But the mountain that he decided to hike this day was a fairly easy hike, and it was a mountain that he had hiked numerous times and it was one of his favorite places to go. He hiked up this mountain called Anthony's Nose (located just on the other side of Bear Mountain overlooking the Hudson River). He started off around 5:30am just getting off a 12hr. overnight shift from work. He reached the top which only took a little over an hour. So once he reached the top he decided to rest on top of this huge bolder. There's no gate or anything that would stop u from falling off the cliff of this bolder which is about 225ft straight drop to the bottom. He never showed up for work that night and this was highly unusual because he never called out and was always there on time. His boss called his cell phone but it was going straight to voicemail because it wasn't charged the entire day. One of his coworkers was very good friends with him and his family so he called his brother and asked him if he knew were Chris was because he didn't show up for work, didn't call, his phone is off and no one has heard from him or has been able to get in touch with him. His brother knew that he was going hiking and asked some of his friends including myself if he had gone with him. But everyone told him that he was going straight from work by himself. His brother drove to the mountain and found his car parked on the side of the road just before the trail started. It was already dark outside and nobody was thrilled about hiking in the woods at night because the area was known for bears. Wolves and snakes. His brother called the police and in the morning they started the search for Chris. Once they reached the top the found his backpack and jacket, but no Chris. So after a few minutes of looking around the area, one of the officers looked over the edge of the cliff and at the bottom they saw his body. Apparently he had fallen asleep while resting and rolled over the edge. He died from blunt trauma to his head cracking his skull on a rock either on the way down or once hitting the ground. He also suffered from two broken legs, and a broken neck. He died almost instantly. He was only 26yrs old, married with a 3 year old daughter and a child on the way. He was a great guy who everyone enjoyed being around. He will be missed. Thank you for reading my story! Love ur channel Mr. B!

The dude was depressed, though. He'd literally made a post somewhere saying "If I killed myself out here no one would ever find me" some time before this incident. The more likely explanation is that he was feeling suicidal, no one showed up to come with him on this expedition, no one was able to talk him out of it or distract him, and he finally acted on it. The vibrations and everything he described all line up with naturally occurring infrasound *exactly.* Infrasound has some seripusly scary effects. It even has the potential to kill you, though that's only in extremes. *Occam's razor,* and all that. Of course, none of these theories can actually be proven or disproven, so, who knows.

The feeling that he got outside the m-cave sounds to me like infra-sound. Deep bass-notes, at frequezies too low to hear for the human ear. But does affect the body, psyche and even vision. The catacombs in Paris are so weird. You walk through narrow hallways where the walls are stacked bones. The bones are often separated by type so they stack neatly. But there will be designs in these walls by mixing other bones - like skulls for instance - in patterns. It’s a very weird for of Art work. As you’re walking through it hits you that this is what all of us become. I would look at a skull and think, this was a person. A person with fears and loves and dreams. His vibes, the way he carrys himself and his physical expressionism as he tells the story's. He just feels absolutely genuine and I think that's also quite a big factor because not only do I feel u dont find that in as many people in the world these days, but especially content creators on KZitem. Genuine is NOT a word that comes to mind associated with youtube lol. But it is a word that comes to mind with Mr. Ballen for sure. The water that flows thru from the caves is cold and very uninviting even in the summer ~65°F. I can’t understand how anyone can get certified as a diver and not know how dangerous cave diving is. We had been repeatedly warned by our instructors and the sign at the entrance was enough for me to know not to go far. I went past the sign but never lost sight of the cave opening. I got additional training: advanced, Nitrox, and such but was never even interested in getting the cave diving training. It just doesn’t sound fun to me.

You do know that if there were no explorers that risked themselves nothing new would ever be found. I wonder if we would all still be in our safe little cubby of the world with no technology. Yup, because if you don't venture into the unknown you don't learn anything new. Most search and rescue teams are prepared to search for these idiots cause that's what they train for. I've been on more searches for people lost looking for a damn cocktail party and made a wrong turn & ran out of gas. Would the world be better without idiots, sure, I say this everyday on the highways in the civilian world (said it in the Marines too). My only question was why he went alone. He had a purpose, we just will never know it. Oh, and as far as insurance premiums, since I pay for expensive coverage but don't go to doctors and avoid hospitals like plagues... well, if he wasn't found alive your premium wasn't affected, blame the idiot that sues the doctor for a hang nail or the idiot doctor who is incompetent and leaves his tools in a patient.

But i never wandered and was never in there for long but heard some crazy stories. But i can tell you that the Parisian police do NOT fuck about making sure you dont go in there, if they know there's an entrance they will close it rapid! They will keep trying to grab you even while you're basically on but in arms reach because once you're in, they can't help you no matter what happens.

When you described your swimming beneath the barges, I immediately thought of my late Green Beret Father. In Operation Just Cause 1989, my Father volunteered as an Individual Military Augmentee with the 1st Special Forces Group-Delta to be a combat diver. His mission was to take and hold the locks of the Panama Canal. He told me exactly what you said about swimming under barges. He was swimming beneath the hulls of massive ships in complete darkness, while on his back with little space to maneuver. His tanks literally rubbed against the floor of the Canal. He was very proud of his specified task. His story was enough to make me feel claustrophobic and I was just sitting there listening. Ha! Dad proudly served in the US Army Special Forces for 29 1/2 years on two teams A-234 An Lac (5th SFG Vietnam) 1967-1969 and A-122 (12th SFG) 1972-1995. He died in 2014 after a 19 1/2 year battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, bone marrow leukemia and multiple myeloma due to Agent Orange. Miss him every day.

Years ago when I was in my teens, we regularly surfed during hurricanes. Before, during and after didn't matter to us as long as the waves were good. It was a big day 14+ft. I took a set wave and ate it right at the bottom. Commence the wash cycle. After being thrown around like a rag doll I found myself at the sea floor. Felt like 30 ft or so from the surface, so much pressure. Not just from the depth but from the wave above as well. I remember standing and pulling my leash to get my board so I can use the buoyancy to surface. I started to run out of air, now that is a horrible feeling. Just when I'm thinking yup I'm about to die, the pressure from the waves pass and I start to float up. As I'm getting to the surface my body can't handle it anymore and I take a nice breath of sea water. It feels like the thickest, heaviest air ever and hurts/burns like nothing else. I surface a split second later and begin to cough up and throw up at the same time. I then floated to shore and laid on the beach for a while. Being down there in the pitch black cold and feeling like you're about to drown with no way to try to get out is the most fear I have ever felt.

My partner was invited to an underground rave in the Paris Catacombs in the early 2000's. It was deep in one of the forbidden sections and they were lead there in a group by someone who already knew the way. He said it was one of the weirdest parties he'd ever been to - a lot of gothics were there, lots of satanic graffiti and to top it all off there was a dead goat with it's throat slit. He and his group of friends obviously wanted to leave immediately but had to wait for their "guide" or risk getting lost in the labyrinth of bones. This was during a period where he lived 'van life' before it was cool and road-tripped France for a couple of years. Now he is one of the most street smart people I know and can sniff a dodgy character a mile away, thank God!

As a Paramedic and a Biologist let me say that diving in the dark is one of the scariest things I ever did. I am a certified diver and rescue diver. I have dove in blackwater to recover bodies and I have bee around sharks and alligators. None of that compares to being a cave in the FL spings and I have dived many of them but I went in a cave only once. I want anyone that says oh that not that bad just think of complete dark where if your light fails your in nothing. The only way you know up is by the bubbles but now you can't see that and you know that your going to die because when the air is gone there is no swimming up to a pocket. So your alone cold and you know its the end most painic some make peace with life and death and God and there are no nonbelievers at that point.

Bro...google it...Ponce de Leon FL... It's frigging beautiful!!! And ice cold... They have the diving area, but also have a trapeze to swing off of, a diving tower, and about six water slides.... This place is the best

I am sooo gonna write a book like this. I’ll see if I can get in touch with Ballen to ask permission to write something like this…unless it’s already been written 😅

I'm not a fan of audio books AT ALL. I collect books and always have since I was a kid, and always have my nose in a book. But I just can't stand audio books, call me traditional or old school, lol, but I'd love to have one from Mr.Ballen to listen to while driving or at work.

These stories make you realise some people experience the most horrifying ends. It's impossible to understand just how horrendous some of these deaths are and the utter terror experienced by those unlucky people. It makes me shudder, which is the point I guess.

I think this is why most ppl believe in a higher power...So that in these times of crisis they will be able to find some sort of peace
