I have a 2008 BMW 328i with 240K miles -- everything still works with little oil burn. Some drivers have made it to 300K+ miles. Folks in this category can generally do their own repair and maintenance; otherwise I think the economics get in the way if you have to pay a dealer. People rationally decide to put the money into a new car rather than into repair.

I have a 2006 TSX 6mt that is at 206k with a new manual transmission replaced around 180k. Replaced the whole suspension in the front and lowered it last week as all the suspension pieces and struts were shot. The main weakness on these is the A/C as it fails and the aftermarket compressors are trash. I'd have to put in a 4th compressor next summer. Next weakness is power steering pump and aftermarket parts are trash again. Other things that broke are the serpentine belt tensioner (belt shot off) and the starter and the interior light switches. I wouldn't call it a luxury car just a Honda with leather seats and not that great of a leather, but maybe I'll put in some dynamat eventually to quiet things down the doors on these things are hollow no sound isolation. Also the speakers rotted out so I replaced those and installed some hidden subwoofers on the rear deck. There are a lot of wear items but the motors on these are solid.

I have a 2008 infiniti G37s with 243,000k miles on it , bought it for $3000 at 238,000k miles. I changed all the fluids everything from trans, diff, power steering, etc once I got it. The mechanic told me that my engine and transmission are still strong as a champ! However, I did recently found out that my rack and pinion boots are starting to leak a bit so I am going to replace that soon. For now its a great sports car to take me to work and college :)

@brianplum1825

The economics of the high repair costs mean that used BMW 3 series have a lower price. This then means people will decide to spend the money on a new car rather than repair. A high-mileage car will more likely get sold for parts rather than being repaired and kept on the road. BMW's high parts cost also contributes to this decision.
