imo being critical, saying something is bad, or even straight up hating on some music has never come off as fundamentally hateful to me, at least not from Brad. i feel like i’ve always taken his more “hater” tendencies as comedic escalation (aka just disliking it but using more extreme negative language/critique bc it’s funny and entertaining). but he is right in a way with his swing to optimism in order to course correct the viewers, because a lot of people don’t understand how to not be awful, and therefore try to go even further and truly say some nasty stuff that they clearly actually believe, which then causes them to be nasty to others in the community (ala the rick and morty effect of the characters clearly being assholes and bad people, but asshole viewers not understanding and thinking those characters are cool and should be emulated). do what you think is best brad, i like both your positive and negative critiques and i will be sticking around. people who take any of it too seriously or try to go too far will always be there, but it’s always admirable to make an effort to course correct for the most toxic among us and cultivate a good community.

You say the 2013 top 10 is the worst of the 2010s, but take a look at the 2018 top 10. 1. God's Plan 2. Perfect 3. Meant to Be 4. Havana 5. Rockstar 6. Psycho 7. I Like It 8. The Middle 9. In My Feelings 10. Girls Like You The 2013 top 10 at least had some good songs but the best songs here are I Like It, Psycho and Rockstar. They're fine on their own but if I was listening to them after listening to the entire 2018 year-end list in reverse order like you do, they would be completely miserable. Every other song is mid or worse.

I'm glad to see you back at full swing Brad. We all go through adversity which only make us stronger. The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials. That being implied, trials are necessary to become the best version of yourself.

Brad’s dressed like he’s about to sit in a restaurant holding a newspaper with two eye holes cut out drinking black coffee while spying on the unsuspecting hero

The back pedal is nuts, you weren't wrong or even really harsh on any of the songs this whole thing feels forced asf

Clarity's highs and lows are really there to accentuate the emotion of the song. But I'm biased because this song reminded me of my first crush back then.

ive been wanting to send in how to be a human being by glass animals (or at least something from it) since forever bc it’s honestly one of the most bold and interesting concept albums ive ever heard, but ive always been too nervous to spend the money on it bc i knew it would probably be torn to shreds/not taken seriously. this channel has been one of my favorites for a while, but i’ve honestly noticed a disconnect between the attitude of rhe content and the “this is just my opinion” disclaimer. this entire recharacterization is really comforting in that i feel like i might actually have a safe space to put it out there no matter what score it winds up with. i’m going to save up for the closing track w/ my ebay funds👍
