I'm a fellow Canuck out of Vancouver, and I'm about to board a flight to Bangkok now (April 2023). I'll be in Pattaya in a few days. This video got me more fired up. The city has something for everyone, but I do prefer Jomtien Beach.

Pratumnak is where I live with my Thai wife and it's an amazing place to call home. Not too many tourists, friendly expats and locals, great world class gym in the neighborhood, lots of quality food stalls and markets catering to locals so cheap and good. Beaches and lots of pretty ladies. For perspective we were just a month on Samui and Bali and my wife and I couldn't wait to get home to Pratumnak. There is so much more to Pattaya than Walking Street. Great place to call home if you can do it.

Hi Mikey Boy. If I may ask, can you stay in Pratumnak (opposed to Central Pattaya and Jomtien) and make it around using only public transportation, bolt, etc.? My concern is that I would need personal transportation for the Pratumnak area, but not sure if that is true. I see that many of the seasoned expats settle in the area, understandably to Central Pattaya, but they obviously all have worked their way up to their own modes of transportation. Any direction you could give me is greatly appreciated!

Yes I agree, the only down side is there’s no Baht Bus, though I often walk or run to Pratumnak from Jomtien, along Dongtan Beach, enjoy it!

@@SpicyThaiTacos I'm sorry Casey for late reply. You bring up a good point. If you are comfortable with renting a motorbike you would benefit greatly from that. However, if not, transport is cheap and a grab bike is an alternative. You can catch a public transport down to Pattaya Beach Area from Jomtien as well. But buying your own bike like us or renting one is a definite bonus. I hope that helps!

I am liking the Pattaya content. I watch a lot of Thailand travel content (though some of them have moved on to other countries) and a fair amount is based around Pattaya. Purely by accident. While gogo bars and the more wild nightlife isn't my thing, the more I see of Pattaya, the more I could see myself living there over Bangkok. Or at least having it as my "home base". Although I'd love to give BK a try too:) All that to say, I love your channel and I love your style of filming/narrating. Thanks for all your hard work!

If you are a beach person, don't bother. Even there are some nice beaches around Pattaya, the water is almost always muddy. And it carries all the filth of the sewage system of Pattaya. Not ideal for swimming. For partying and nightlife a great place though. If you find yourself in Patts, i recommend taking daily trips to Koh Lan for the beaches. It's very close to Pattaya, very cheap to travel and has iddylic beaches with cristal clear waters.

With more westerners taking home in Pattaya, particularly the divers, the locals learned to respect nature and cleanliness. This is not the Pattaya of the 80s and 90s. When hotels started building the coast and residential resorts followed suit, the water became cleaner.

@SideTripLife
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! First, if you get an intnl motorcycle drivers licence in your own country you're good to go in Thailand too. If no licence, you'll be stopped at times and fined on the spot (usually 200 baht or up, depending....) I have a Thai M/C licence but it's a bit of a hassle to get. If you have a valid M/C licence from your own country, that makes it easier to get a Thai one (bringing an intnl one is just easier all round). Also best rent for a month to see if riding a scooter round Pattaya is for you (if not, baht buses cost only 10 baht;) THEN if looking at buying a bike make SURE to get a bike with GREEN book (in owners name and locally issued is best, plus tax paid up). Also get the bike checked out first, or, buy new. Will leave it there as this topic could go on and on and I'm on the road, gotta go! Cheers! STL

It looks like it has everything that you could possibly need.... As for the "Greens"... EVERY machine even EV`s needs Lubrication..... Grease or oil for bearings etc.... We used to use Whale blubber until we found Oil....Even the sewing machines used to make the "Ban Oil" banners and printers for posters, need Oil!!!!! So Oil will be here for quite some time to come..... Please don`t mention Palm Oil which is causing Massive environmental problems!! Sorry or the rant STL but you started it.. lol....... Thx Mick. Brit/Scot family roots and I suppose some of the vernacular stuck. I used to love listening to my Grandad's Britsims and my Gran's lovely Hebrides lilt. My Father also says 'Bob's your uncle' and others. Plus, growing up in Canada our CBC had BBC shows too, loved Monty Python, Blackadder etc and more recent stuff as well. Let's sum up by saying some are Downey Jr Sherlock fans, I much prefer the Cumberbatch/Freeeman versions (leagues ahead). Brits may also be more likely 'get' Canuck humour as well (note to my American friends, yes, we put U in humour - see what I did there ;) Cheers Y'all STL

It seems a dog ran out in front of him (I sure I don’t have to tell you about what a hazard they can be). The Russian was fairly well hurt.
