Finger choil makes it fit the hand very well. It's easily rotated and turned in the hand. Great EDC.

Haha this was posted on my bday which this was my present. And the Lion's Toothpick..my next one is the ranger's edge. I carried a knife very similar to this when i was in the 75th regiment. This is by far my favorite EDC. I teach blade combat. Fma, America Arwology, silat, kali. Krav and silat. Usually carry it with my Colt m1991a1 compact. Sometimes my hk or sig p225 or p229 or full sized sig 1911 scorpion which might be my favorite 1911 as a huge sig and 1911 fan Anyway... this thing is damn near the perfect fighting knife under 5 inches

Quick question: my sheath has very strong retention I mean difficult and painful to extract with my thumb. Does it get better with time? Thanks in advance guys

No problem I enjoy helping when I can!! it will get a little bit better, but not quick enough. What you should do is pull the knife out just a tiny little bit, where it feels like the knife is stuck at its tightest point when pulling it in and out the sheath… Once you have it stuck at it tightest point, take a hairdryer on full heat and heat it up around that specific area until the knife loosens and slides in and out easily. Before you let it completely harden again, make sure you put the knife back in the same position where it was when you heated it up. That way when it gets hard again, it’s exactly where you need it to be. It’s super easy. Don’t worry about overheating it and warping the sheath, it takes a lot more than a hair dryer to fully make it start melting. If you have Instagram and would like for me to send you a video to clarify anything just let me know and I’ll be happy to guide you through it. But other than that, it’s really easy to do.

Awesome! Glad to hear that. Sorry but YT is still bad with notifications. Luckily I just got the latest one. But yeah sometimes it just takes repeated use to break it in. But some need a little persuasion lol. Btw if you like self defense type knives, check me out on IG @tier1edc… I have several cool options both available and in the works. Including some other stuff of course. 🍻

Yes lots of interesting stuff on your channel. I removed the loops and replaced them by a paracord loop on the handle-side hole for IWB carry. If I found a convenient carry solution my knife of choice would be no other than my Mora Companion. Longer shank, very sharp, sticky grip, lightweight and above all, shiny blade. I think black coating is nonsense on a self defense blade when intimidation may save your life

@@Tier1GearEDCReviews I absolutely love it, question though, how do you carry it inside the waistband with the kind of button straps it has on the sheath?
@Tier1GearEDCReviews
3 жыл бұрын
Ok.. you can do 2 things. 1 you can take the bottom strap off and reconfigure the top strap in a pinched together C shape with the loop pointing down and on the outside of the sheath.... Or you can email Tops customer service and buy a metal replacement spring clip and then use the same screws to attach it. It works perfectly and will clip onto anything. If you have an email I can send you pictures of it.

I own the original street scalpel which is pretty much the same thing except no finger choil, & 1/4" thick spine with a distal taper & saber grind. While I don't see you snapping it in normal use that finger choil seems rather deep & is obviously the weak point. Would love to compare them side by side, & while I got mine as a self-defense knife carried horizontally on my belt or vertically & 11 o'clock it is rather nice, but I have yet to see a review with someone even slicing paper, let alone meat, food prep, or even wood & there are videos for this dating back to YT being in it's infancy.

Tbh I was more worried about the tip breaking on the v2. It literally tapered down to nothing. If it was a premium steel like m390 or 20cv it probably would. Being 1095 is probably the only thing keeping it from being an issue. I could still see it happen though for self defense. Especially if you hit a rib or something. But yeah, basic use I don’t see it being an issue. I may have to do an update video on it one day. I’m actually quite surprised how popular the video has been even though it’s not one of my best by far lol.

Hows the edge of the knife? Is it strong? Reason im asking is that i used a different knife i just bought to test if it can withhold unscrewing a flat head screw and the edge of the blade broke off the first use.
@Tier1GearEDCReviews
4 жыл бұрын
Tbh I haven't tried using it on something like that yet... At least with the edge anyway. However I have used the spine to loosen a rusted on wingnut and it handled that no prob. Tops has that differential heat treatment on their blades so the edge might be a bit brittle for something like that but it excels with almost any cutting task.

@@Tier1GearEDCReviews I want the Street Scalpel so bad. The MKS is also nice but man......The 2.0 is like a CRKT Minimalist but a usable size and proper steel. I was gonna buy a folder but it might be worth the extra loot. Looks like you could scout carry it pretty comfartbly.

It actually carries perfectly on scout carry. That's literally the only way I carry it, behind the back. But yeah it actually feels so much better than the minimalist in the hand. Tops nailed it with the design 100%. I love how the blade tapers off to almost a scalpel thickness. It makes it 1 helluva slicer for sure. Its worth every penny.🍻
