Excellent video of my old stamping-ground. Many changes over the years.

What an absolutely splendid video, I spent most of my time in the 1950s trainspotting and travelling quite a bit around the UK but this is one area I never got to visit, I always remember the old `Beyer Garratts` and this was their area but never got to see one alas only on photos, now living in Australia I am seeing places I always wanted to visit, once again thank you.

I live a short walk from Toton. Much of it has had the infrastructure removed, and it is good for dog walkers and just generally a decent place to have a stroll in a largely built up area. It is intended to put the East Midlands HS2 station on the site, and add significant housing development (complete with an extension of the Nottingham Tram network and a possible National Rail station) so whilst a shadow of its former self, it certainly has a present and future.

I've often passed over the line to Bentinck colliery while on the M1 and wondered why it's still there.

While I agree with most of the reasoning behind the Axe, this line seems to be a contradiction. Alas, what was unfactored by the good doctor, is that railroads provide a service to the people and sometimes there is a cost to service which is worth bearing. The many stations and lines which are reopening would seem to bolster my reasoning.

I happened to chance on this video the day it was uploaded. Probably the first time I've seen a video on KZitem before the idiot trolls had given it a thumbs down.

Excelent video but spoiled by no sound. An explanation why on the video would be helpful.

Hi. As it said at the start of the video the reason for no sound is in the channel description.

I think it would be a good idea for the video to emit a sound, such as a beep or bell, when one of the captions comes up. On long stretches of line where there are just r]trees, for instance, your attention can wander briefly.

The silence is deafening. I watched at 1.5x speed, it got it over with sooner. I tried 2x but that was just too quick. Oh, I don't know though...
