Day 7 of our Tour du Mont Blanc journey was a true test of endurance, but also one of the most rewarding yet. We set off from Rifugio Bonatti at 7:20am, greeted by a brisk morning chill that instantly reminded us we were deep in the heart of the Alps. The spectacular scenery from the previous day still lingered in our minds as we tackled the long, demanding route ahead.
By the time we reached La Fouly and pitched our Durston X-Mid Pro 2+ tent at Camping des Glaciers, the afternoon sky had turned grey and rain started to fall. Tired but not deterred, we decided to explore the village. As always, we opted for the more challenging path-clambering up trails and eventually reaching the roadside.
Our efforts were rewarded with a feast at cozy Auberge des Glaciers, where we indulged in a goat cheese salad so massive it seemed to spill off the plate, followed by a decadent cheese fondue with potato rosti, and topped off with dessert. We paired this feast with locally produced wine, soaking in the warmth and comfort of a well-earned meal. Auberge des Glaciers is known for its locally produced wine and delicious food-a perfect way to unwind after such a long day on the trail. Afterwards we had a very chilly and rainy return to the tent.
This was just another day on the Tour du Mont Blanc, full of highs and challenges, but always ending with a sense of accomplishment.
