I think i ended up at your channel through a Toby video. Of course he is not even born yet at the time you made this. I don't know what it is about you and the videos you produce but i am drawn in and find myself learning so much about stuff i never thought i would care to know. You are extremely talented at making and editing your videos. I don't know your story but I enjoy every video i click on. I just want to say thank you .... why.....just cause. Good content is kinda hard to find especially in 2020.

Me to… Toby got me here and then this guy started stealing the spotlight…. But the videos were actually pretty interesting… I love that he mentions Black Locust tree … I was considering that breed of tree myself to grow on the 10acres of land I live on 🤓

Permaculture Orchards are such a cool idea, loving the videos, great explanations, you got a new sub. Elderflowers are good for cordials and wine as well. I was taught to only take every other bloom to help have a good fruit crop. I'd love to see a video on how these trees are coming on now it is two years down the line.

I just found you today. I saw you on Lumnah Acres and I thought I'd give you a try. I really like how ope you are to possibilities. I think that that is one thing that worries me about starting my own homestead. It's good to have options. I'm going to subscribe! I'll have to watch everything else too.

Thanks, Ashley. I used to get really hung up on making decisions and trying to make everything all planned out. I found that only led to frustration and disappointment. As soon as you start accepting the situation for what it is and focus your energy on the very next step, it’s amazing what you can accomplish.

So, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but you may want to research what trees are toxic to live stock animals (cattle, horses, pigs, etc). I know that black locust, black walnut and elder berries are on that list along with cherry trees and relatives (peaches, plums, etc), oak trees, red maple and horse chestnut/buckeye. The problem with these trees is usually when the leaves wilt and fall off, they contain cyanide and are toxic for 30 days or more. An animal that eats these would, obviously, start suffering from cyanide poisoning. Some trees contain higher levels than others, but on the highly toxic plants 3-4 pounds of foraged leaves can kill a 1,000 lbs animal. You may have to pull the live stock off the fields when leaves start turning in the fall.

Interesting video Morgan, thanks! I’m new, been subbed a while, but, life stuff 😣😄 so just been catching a few of your vids here & there, nothing consistent, sorry. But planning now i have a little more time,to watch more consistently & also go back & check out your back catalogue when i can & fill in the blanks. So this one was awesome for me 👍 as i had lots of questions about your orchard plans! Enjoy your unique & inventive delivery & although as a softie with animals i will be 🙈 at cull/harvest times,i’ve also worked cattle & livestock so know it’s an integral part of farming. I’m looking forward to seeing all your ❄️ too! Living in Athens,Greece atm & ❄️ is rare! Hope Abby (ie?) is doing better & healing well,my boy 🐕 ((nearly 12 yr old red dobie) sends 😘😘🐾 Have a great weekend!

Yep…. I knew I’d make mistakes also… sadly my first mistake was taking dogs off my property for the day and leaving the back door to the chicken coop open… my poor chickens tried but failed to survive an attack from something 😢 I vow to do better… and hope future mistakes aren’t so costly in terms of life. Got myself a 4 month old Pyrenees/Maremma pup… I didn’t see any animals come to attack my two border collies and blue heeler… but I’m not taking any chances… and I’m so glad I did cause I freakin love this breed… my guy is so smart and so well tempered… as long as he stops being a scaredy cat when he grows up he’s gonna be a great livestock dog 😊 (I’m not really worried … most male dogs start off as big babies lol… the few I’ve raised anyways)

My daughter's birthday is May 23rd. In Maryland that is when the Mulberries are usually ripe, so we have gotten in the habit of making mulberry pie instead of cake for her birthday. FYI, the darker the mulberry, the more flavor as far as we can tell. The stems don't need to be removed from the berries, they are soft and perfectly edible. I hope you didn't plant white mulberries, because as far as I can tell, (and this is years before covid) they have no flavor at all.
