If interested in this video, please watch it for the entire length before attempting any personal repairs in order to see what to do and, more importantly, what not to do. I've had good success following KZitem auto repair videos until this one. As he performed an action, I would go perform an action but this guy set me up for trouble by following him that way. Here's how: As one of the first steps, you'll need to remove the brake caliper and rotor (just as he does in the video). Then in order to fit the wheel stud back into the hub from behind (while maneuvering the stud bolt in and around the parking brake apparatus), it'll likely be beneficial to rotate the wheel hub. However, in order to do that you must disengage the parking brake (just like the problem he had). In order to disengage the parking brake, you must put the key in the ignition and turn it. In order to do that, you must press on the brake pedal. BIG MISTAKE. Remember you removed the caliper. By pressing the brake pedal when the caliper piston has no resistance, it just might push the entire way out of its housing causing brake fluid to leak and cause a whole new problem you have to now fix in addition to just the wheel stud. So the first step should be to block the wheels and put the car in neutral. Then you can follow the others steps he outlines. However, NEVER, NEVER push the brake pedal with the calipers removed unless you're making an expanded how-to video on "how to bleed brake lines while replacing a wheel stud you dumbass". Try to find auto repair videos from people who know what they are doing and have some experience doing it, i.e they know what procedures to follow and don't set you up for other avoidable problems. Try to avoid guys like this dude who are more that happy to try and make a few extra bucks by filming themselves while taking a dump and hope that you watch it and follow along.

I had no problems following the video because I have experience in the automotive field. However I do agree that any person attempting to follow any KZitem or any video of "Do It Yourself" should watch the entire video to make sure they can perform the task.

Awesome, thank you for sharing! This tip just helped me replace broken and stressed ones on each side. There are very few people showing how to replace the rear studs. The front are much easier as the parking drum breaks are not in the way.

Awesome job Arlan! on this video. Would have been better with a camera person but I understand sometimes help is hard to find. On the 03 thru 08 4runners you have to loosen the brake shoes a little because of it's design. The parking brakes are so close to the axle until there's space to remove/replace the old/new lugs. It's not your typical rear brake design. The dealer actually charge 2.4 hours/$325.00 to remove one or more broken lugs on a rear axle. The dealer claim they have to remove the axle and the brake assembly. That's crazy!.

I'm an experienced mechanic and one of the hardest jobs I've ever got myself into was pulling too hard on a rear rotor of a Lexus GX470 and bending that one weird bent connector that holds the parking brake spring. Wish Toyota/Lexus would had made the hole in the axle much, much bigger. 2 hours later, I finally got it.
