So here is the longer video compilation, IMSA GTP Toyota (AAR modified TOMS/Dome Group C car and Eagle HF89). Recommended to watch the whole thing as its got historical commentary from the day along with annotations and documented historical facts from engineers at Toyota included for reference. These cars in 1989 ran with an inlet restrictor and were around the 820bhp mark, as can be witnesses on how they passed Jaguar (turbo V6 and NA V12), Datsun V6 turbo, Hitler Youth loving Nazibus flat 6 turbo, and the dinosaur boat anchor V8 NA Chevy shitbox..... All American Racers in house engine expert Mr Miller from back in the Offenhauser Turbo days took it upon themselves to make these engines durable. They were so high in average power that nothing could cope with them, not even a Cosworth Formula One V8 3.5lt NA engine as tried as the final solution by Jaguar in the dying days of IMSA GTP. Like I have shared in other videos on the channel the only thing that can beat a 4cyl turbo is a lack of intelligence and or a rule book! nothing else! and such was the case here........ again. These were/are fantastic machines, and little known, but thankfully through proper research and interviews with the people who designed and ran the engines we put this up for historical context and a point of real information to share with others who otherwise only know what the 'internet' tells them.
