Uganda's first post-independence executive Prime Minister Dr. Apollo Milton Obote was a man from a humble background.
Dr. Obote who was to later serve as Uganda's president on two different occasions shot to the limelight as a member of the pre-independence Parliament, the Legislative Council or LEGCO.
The area he represented in Lango sub-region is in present day Alebtong District that was curved out of Lira District in 2010.
